LIBBEY BOWL

The Ojai Recreation Department seeks to enhance the physical and mental well-being of Ojai citizens by creating and offering a wide variety of accessible activities... Ojai Day was first celebrated in 1917 after glass magnate Edward Libbey offered to finance the construction of the downtown Arcade, present day Libbey Park and the post office with its 65-foot bell tower. Ojai's most prominent citizens decided to host a city wide celebration to show their appreciation to Libbey. While the early event faded away after several years, It was revived in 1991 by local teacher and historian Craig Walker. Since that time it has returned each October, except for a break in 2020 due to pandemic restrictions. The event includes vendors, entertainment, food and activities for the whole family with an emphasis on celebrating the local community. It is traditionally celebrated on the 3rd Saturday in October at Libbey Park and the surrounding areas.
