When she first joined the McDaniel faculty in 2007, Becca Gibson was both a coordinator and instructor in the Innovations in Teaching and Learning master's program. Now part of the Education department, Gibson teaches courses on cultivating reading skills, literacy development, and how to teach children writing using children's literature as models. She holds a B.A. in French and an Elementary Education Teaching Certification from Albright College, an M.Ed. in Reading Education from Towson University, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Maryland, College Park.

Students have the opportunity to learn from a drug discovery scientist and medicinal chemist when setting foot in Dana Ferraris' classroom. He spent 15 years in the pharmaceutical industry before beginning his teaching career. One of his favorite roles is mentoring undergraduate students while completing student-faculty research. He even worked with students on research to discover drugs to fight COVID-19. He teaches Organic Chemistry, Medicinal Chemistry, and Modern Drug Discovery.

Mr. Sears joined McDaniel College in 2022 after serving as senior vice president of advancement and community engagement at Montgomery College in Rockville, Md. He previously served as director of athletic development at Georgetown University and vice president of advancement at Loyola University Maryland. Mr. Sears brings more than 30 years of experience in higher education fundraising and development to McDaniel.

Dr. Jasken currently resides on-campus in Westminster, Md., with her husband, David, two sons Iain and Kyle, and adopted dog Kira. President Jasken and members of her family can be seen regularly walking Kira across campus. If spotted, feel free to join along- walks with Kira are a great time to chat with the president and spend some time with McDaniel's favorite pup.
McDaniel College is led by President Julia Jasken, and a Board of Trustees. The senior leadership team supports the functions of the college and make up the President's Council.
On June 1, 2021, Dr. Julia Jasken became the 10th president of McDaniel College and the second woman president in the college's 154-year history. Over her tenure at McDaniel, Dr. Jasken has assumed increasing responsibility in administrative positions, serving the college's executive vice president and provost immediately preceding her presidency. Her expertise spans community engagement; new academic program development; academic and campus life restructuring; student success initiatives; oversight of institutional diversity, equity and inclusion efforts; adjunct faculty union contract negotiations; and building and supporting a culture of safety compliance.

Dr. Lilly joined McDaniel in 2023 after serving as the vice provost of academic and student affairs and the vice dean of the Graduate School at the University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB), where he began in 2010. In addition to experience in new degree development, international partnerships, social and health innovation, student recruitment and marketing, and online learning, Dr. Lilly brings specific leadership expertise in developing new services and academic programs.

Walter Olson has been elected to the McDaniel College Board of Trustees. A former parent visitor to the board, Olson is a senior fellow at the Cato Institute's Robert A.
