Born in a small Pennsylvania town in 1927, Ernie Muehlmatt became interested in birds as a boy. Although trained as an artist, he didn't discover his true vocation as a bird carver until his 40's. His first birds were sold in his family's florist shop. As demand for his work grew, he decided to make wildfowl carving a full time career. Now, four woodcarving books, over 6000 wildfowl carvings, and 28 years later, Ernie's carvings and woodcarving seminars are more popular than ever.
