NEWLANDS MEDICAL CENTRE - Key Persons

I graduated from Otago University School of Medicine in 1993. I then completed postgraduate qualifications in paediatrics (1996) and in obstetrics and gynaecology (1998). I have worked in general practice since 1999, and am a Fellow of the Royal NZ College of GPs. I started working at Newlands Medical Centre in 2006 and really enjoy this great practice. I am interested in all aspects of family medicine, especially asthma management, child health, and gynaecology.

I am a Wellington local, born and raised up the road in Ngaio. I studied medicine at the University of Otago, graduating with an MBChB and a Diploma in Child Health. After a few years of studying in Dunedin and working in Christchurch, I am enjoying being back in my Tūrangawaewae and getting to know the Newlands community. I enjoy all aspects of general practice, and particularly like working with young people and their families, mental health, and women's health.

I graduated from Otago University School of Medicine. I have a postgraduate qualification in Child Health and have become a Fellow of the Royal NZ College of General Practice. I have worked at Newlands Medical Centre since 2005. My particular interest is child health / paediatrics.

Since graduating from Otago in 2003 I have lived in Wellington, first working at Wellington Hospital, then at various others around the country. I started my General Practice training in 2008 and will continue working towards Fellowship once my children are older. I really enjoy the variety of people that I meet while working in General Practice. Usual days: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday

Wendy Slight joined Newlands Medical Centre in 2010 as our Practice Manager. Wendy has overall responsibility for the management and administration of our practice, and came to us with over nine years practice management experience. Wendy is an Honorary Life member of the Practice Managers and Administrators Association of NZ (PMAANZ) and a past national Board member. She is also a Fellow of the Australian Association of Practice Management (AAPM).
