Don Schuster

Don joined the Board in 2011 and after taking a few years off, rejoined the board in 2021. Don obtained a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Purdue University. He spent over 24-years as Vice President of Hospitality for Aspen Skiing Company, and previously served as Vice President Resort Operations for Keystone Resort, Vice President Resort Operations for Arvida/Disney, and General Manager at the Hilton Resort at Hilton Head Island. In addition to his work with RFC, Don is on the board for RiversEdge West and actively involved with the Basalt and Redlands Lions Clubs. Don lives in Grand Junction, CO.

George W. Kelly III - VP

Born and raised in Canton, Ohio, George W. Kelly III moved to Colorado upon graduating from St. Bonaventure University with a degree in Marketing in 1998. After starting his career with East West Partners in Vail which eventually took him to Lake Tahoe, George and his wife, Stacey, were drawn back to Colorado and the Roaring Fork Valley, an area that has become home. After a career in leadership roles in technology with East West Partners and Aspen Skiing Company, George decided it was time to start his own business. In 2011, George founded Organic Return, an Award Winning Digital Marketing Agency with local and national clientele. Organic Return is a member of 1% For The Planet and focuses on working with hospitality, real estate and business-to-business companies throughout the United State. George lives in Basalt with his wife and two kids. He joined RFC's board in January of 2018.

Jeff Conklin

Jeff is a Partner/Shareholder at the law firm of Karp Neu Hanlon, P.C., where his practice focuses on water law, land use, real estate, municipal law, and litigation. After graduating from Wake Forest University with a degree in Political Science and Philosophy in 2004, Jeff attended the University of Denver and received his J.D. and Master's of Public Policy in 2008. Jeff is active in the community and currently chairs Pitkin County's Planning & Zoning Commission. He joined the Board in 2015, after several years on RFC's River Stewards Board. Jeff currently serves on the RFC's Legal Committee and is Secretary of the Board. He lives in Aspen, CO.

Jim Light

As a founding Board member (1996), Jim has helped guide Roaring Fork Conservancy from its very beginning. Jim is nationally recognized for his skill in general management, community planning and development, and design and structuring of project financing. Early in his career he worked as the project manager for Harbour Town at Sea Pines Plantation on Hilton Head Island, the most ambitious private harbor development ever built on the East Coast. By 1975 he had become President of Sea Pines, which had become a leader in resort development nationwide. Since 1978, he and a partner have led their local company, Chaffin/Light Associates, into recreation community development ventures in multiple states. He was the managing partner of the Roaring Fork Club and is currently the managing partner of the Ironbridge Golf and Mountain Community. Jim was a trustee of the Urban Land Institute for 6 years and is a former Chairman of the ULI/Recreation Development Council. He holds a B.A. from the University of North Carolina and an M.B.A. from Harvard University School of Business. Jim serves on the River Center Working Committee. He lives in Snowmass, CO.

Michelle Schindler

Michelle joined the Roaring Fork Conservancy in 2018. She is an attorney with Ferguson Schindler Law Firm, P.C. in Aspen, Colorado, where she concentrates her practice in real estate and commercial litigation. Michelle grew up in Madison, Wisconsin and then attended Northwestern University, where she earned her degree in Environmental Sciences. Prior to going to law school, Michelle worked for 5 years in environmental advocacy and the non-profit sector. After attending law school at Loyola University of Chicago, Michelle started her legal career in Chicago, Illinois and several years later moved to the Roaring Fork Valley. Michelle resides in Basalt, Colorado.

A lifetime outdoorsman and conservationist, Pat joined the Board in 2014 and became President of the Board in December of 2015. Prior to retiring, Pat spent 34 years as president of Barker Company LTD in Iowa. He was also a long time board member at Iowa State Bank and Trust Company, serving on the Executive and Audit Committees. He is a member of RFC's Finance, River Center Finance, and River Center Working Committees. Pat lives in Basalt, CO.

Rick Lofaro

Rick is the Executive Director of RFC and joined the Board in 2005. Prior to his appointment as Executive Director in 2004, Rick spent 6 years as the organization's Director of Field Programs/Water Quality Coordinator. He also worked as a naturalist for the Aspen Center for Environmental Studies, and as a fishing guide in northwestern Montana. Rick serves as a technical advisor to the Town of Basalt on community watershed issues and is a past board president of the Colorado Watershed Assembly and the Ferdinand Hayden Chapter of Trout Unlimited. Rick lives in Basalt, CO.
