UNITED NATIONS ENVIRONMENT PROGRAMME

The Scientific and Technical Advisory Panel to the Global Environment Facility provides independent advice to the GEF: it has 7 members - a Chair, and 6 individual members, and 2 Senior Advisors. The Panel is supported by a small, dedicated Secretariat of 7. This composition reflects a proposal by UNEP's Executive Director, as approved by the GEF Council, in 2007. The STAP Secretariat provides substantive and operational assistance in the delivery of Panel Members' responsibilities. UNEP, on behalf of the GEF partnership, established STAP and provides its secretariat.
