Christopher Hart

Christopher is a senior treasury economist with Absa Group Economic Research. As a treasury economist he works with the Absa treasury, where he does real-time analysis on the financial markets. The main focus areas are currencies, interest rates, bonds and equities. This also includes derivatives instruments such as options and swaps. His main areas of responsibility include the research and analysis of the international economy and financial markets with respect to the trends and impact on the South African economy. He has also had extensive contact with foreign banks across the world, as a support to Absa's Correspondent Banking division. Christopher has presented papers at numerous conferences both within South Africa and internationally. Some of his research that has been presented at various conferences has focused on NEPAD, South African & African economic growth potential, Hedge Fund investing and Inflation amongst others. Christopher is required to provide input to senior management within the bank and also to Absa's corporate and business clients. He is a spokesperson for Absa on economic matters and is well known in the market. Christopher studied at the University of the Witwatersrand and is currently completing an MBA. His main interest is using TA on economic data to forecast trends and potential for changes in the economic environment.

Daan Joubert M.

Daan Joubert M.Sc, in Physics at University of South Africa then spent 10 years in computer software - operating system development and computer education. Self employed since 1982: developed the IDSS software for Technical Analysis, independent technical analyst to institutions and various stockbrokers with a long-standing relationship with Silvis Barnard stockbrokers. Weekly ΒΌ page article on the markets for the Beeld newspaper since 1994. Writing and presenting courses in Technical Analysis since 1988. e.g. Course leader with Victor Hugo at the University of the Witwatersrand Business School "TA and Fund Management" 2004.

Maureen Williams - Treasurer

Maureen Williams trained and qualified as an Optometrist in the UK. She has been involved in Technical Analysis since the Crash of 1987. She is a founder Member and Executive Member of TASSA since 1994 and Treasurer of TASSA since 2000. She is a member of the South African Institute of Stockbrokers since 2001.

Peet Serfontein

Peet is a Director of Phoenix Investment Analytics. He has more than 20 years of experience in the financial markets, and has held a wide range of trading and research roles during this time. He recently joined Phoenix Investment Analytics, which is an investment research and market strategy boutique firm catering for investors and corporates in the financial markets. This year, Peet was rated No. 1 in the Technical Analysis category for the fourth consecutive year, in the Financial Mail Top Analyst Annual Awards. Peet specialises in analysing assets (investments), based on a systematic disciplined approach, using technical and quantitative methods to determine the optimal entry and exit points in any given investment. He is a member of the Market Technicians Association, an international body that sets the standards and codes of conduct for technical analysts. Peet also serves as a board member for TASSA (The Financial Technical Analysts' Society of Southern Africa), which promotes technical analysis locally. He holds a B.Com (Hons) in Investment Management as well as Senior Trader qualification both for Equities and Equity Derivatives from the JSE. Peet is a registered person in terms of the South African Institute of Financial Markets.

Pieter Steyn

Pieter is a systems engineer with Denel Land Systems. He has a Master's degree in Engineering from Rand Afrikaans University (currently known as University of Johannesburg) and he did an MBA at The University of North West. He spent some years in Europe as a young engineer. TA sparked Pieter's interest about 20 years ago when he was looking for private investing alternatives to unit trusts. He began his own trading and investment portfolio strategies with enough success to inspire an ongoing learning and discovery process. He was intrigued by the use of quantitative and chart tools employed by TA to assist share selection, weighting and timing and his engineering training gave him useful insights into the power of TA, when properly used. Pieter enjoys outdoor activities in nature - such as hiking, camping, boating and off-road driving. Pieter lives in Centurion, near Pretoria, South Africa.
