Barbara L. Harris Chiang, an experienced employment litigator and counselor, represents companies ranging from small startups to Fortune 500 companies and everything in between. Her vast employment litigation experience enhances her ability to provide novel solutions and practical advice for clients seeking to comply with the ever-changing myriad of employment laws.
Carl Kaplan represents clients ranging from individuals to enterprise-level companies on employment-related matters including wage and hour class actions, trade secrets, discrimination, retaliation, and harassment cases. Carl also helps clients manage pre-litigation disputes and investigations.
Hassan Aburish enjoys working with businesses, organizations, and individuals to protect their interests in a wide range of employment-related matters. Whether representing a client in litigation, guiding them through the requirements of a new law, or drafting an agreement, Hassan's primary focus is to secure the best possible outcome for his clients. After identifying his clients' goals, he thinks outside the box to find the most effective and efficient options for reaching those goals and communicates with his clients each step of the way.
Hassan's practice includes representing clients in litigation, arbitration and administrative claims involving allegations of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, trade secret theft, breach of contract, wrongful termination, wage and hour violations, and failure to accommodate. As a litigator, Hassan will aggressively pursue his client's interests, while seeking ways to maximize efficiency. Hassan also provides advice and counsel to employers and executives, including drafting employment-related agreements and policies, guiding employers through employee complaints, leave requests, discipline, terminations, compensation, and benefits.
Jade Butman has litigated all types of employment matters - individual and class. She has won by dispositive motion a variety of cases in California state courts, including cases alleging disability discrimination, sexual harassment, race discrimination (individual and disparate impact), and other wrongful termination matters. She also has successfully represented clients in front of administrative agencies.
Ms. Butman began working on wage and hour class and representative actions shortly after California implemented its landmark legislation, the Private Attorneys General Act ("PAGA"). In the decades that have followed, she has successfully litigated and resolved dozens of PAGA and wage and hour class actions.
Ms. Butman has achieved solutions for clients in industries such as transportation, technology, manufacturing, hospitality, staffing, janitorial and retail. In addition to her litigation work, she routinely works with clients to implement compliance programs involving California pay practices, meal and rest break requirements, wage statement regulations, joint employment, piece rate pay, commissions, discrimination and harassment prevention, and emerging California legal developments.
Ms. Butman received her undergraduate degree from Dartmouth College and her law degree from the University of Pittsburgh, School of Law.
Lauren specializes in employment and business litigation, working with clients to achieve their objectives efficiently and effectively. She has represented clients in a diverse mix of contract, shareholder, partnership, and trademark disputes, and litigated claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and failure to accommodate, among others.
Lauren is equally at home litigating in federal and state courts, and before administrative agencies. She has achieved successful outcomes for her clients at trials and arbitrations, and in appellate matters. She has also negotiated favorable settlements and represented clients in mediations and other forms of alternative dispute resolution.
