Raised in Bismarck he found his passion for food while living on the beaches of South Carolina. He gained his experience working under an array of Italian chefs for the past 12 years before returning home in 2019 with his wife and children.

I started my journey at The Walrus in March of 2007. My first shift was St. Patrick's Day and wow were we busy. I thought for an American Italian restaurant it was strange to be so wild on an Irish Holiday.

Shawn Sanford

  • Director of Drinking Activities
A trip to England early in my drinking life introduced me and my drinking palate to beer tastes I had never experienced before. Upon returning to the states, I started searching for even more tastes, as well as the how's and whys of all things beer. The search and journey continue to this day, as it evolved itself into me becoming the Director of Drinking Activities for the last 7 plus years. I strive weekly to bring the best diversity of American crafted brews with a bias to local and regional beers to our 41 taps.
