Anne F. Bachmann serves as General Counsel of UPG. Anne joined UPG as General Counsel in May, 2021.
Anne is a Double ‘Hoo, having received her JD from University of Virginia School of Law in 2009 and her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Virginia College of Arts and Sciences in 2006. Prior to joining UPG, Anne had more than a decade of transactional legal experience serving clients primarily in the healthcare field.

James Larner, MD, serves as chair of the University of Virginia Department of Radiation Oncology. He also serves as president of the University of Virginia Physicians Group (UPG).
After graduating from the UVA School of Medicine, Dr. Larner completed residencies in internal medicine, with subspecialty training in hematology and medical oncology, as well as in radiation oncology at Thomas Jefferson University.
His clinical interests are neuro-oncology, including gamma knife radiosurgery, and thoracic oncology.
Dr. Larner is the past chair of the NIH Radiation Therapy and Biology Study Section, and for over a decade, he was a co-leader of the Genetics and Epigenetics program at the UVA Cancer Center.
Spending an estimated 75% of his time on research and 25% in the clinic, Larner is dedicated to both caring for cancer patients and finding ways to improve care.
His research interests include DNA damage-sensing pathways, radiation injury, radiosensitizers (drugs that make tumor cells more responsive to radiation therapy), prostate cancer, gliomas (brain tumors) and lung cancer.
When he is not in the lab or clinic, Larner plays racquet sports, restores houses and travels. He claims he spoils his son by allowing him to select where they travel each year. Some of Larner's favorite destinations include Mauritius, Thailand, Andora, Uruguay and Japan.

Lacy has nearly 20 years of healthcare management experience, along with a clinical background and astute understanding of the intersections between patient, provider and business needs.
She joined the University of Virginia Physicians Group (UPG) in 2019 as the Director of Managed Care Contracting and is now serving as the Chief of Practice Innovation. In this position, Lacy is responsible for working across the organization and with our UVA Health partners to collaboratively strengthen our care delivery system and continue to provide outstanding quality of care, with a keen eye toward efficiency and financial stewardship; while keeping the wellness and satisfaction of our care teams and providers at the forefront of everything we do.
Lacy found her passion for improving the quality and efficiency of health care delivery while working as a nurse in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. A systemic perspective led her to take a role with General Electric Healthcare, where she worked on over 25 operational efficiency and patient safety consulting projects throughout the U.S. before moving into a product development role, kicking off the GE Patient Safety Organization and developing offerings for the international consulting services market.
After earning her MBA, Lacy joined Virginia Premier Health Plan as the Director of Strategic Planning and Business Development. Prior to joining UPG, Lacy was a policy advisor to the Chief Medical Officer of Virginia's Medicaid program, where she worked to make meaningful connections between policy, efficiency and clinical best practice.
Lacy holds an Economics degree from the University of Virginia, a Nursing degree from Georgetown, and an MBA from the University of Richmond.
Lacy adores her husband, Sam, and her three sons, who have taught her that her beloved Lean methodology may have limitations, after all.

Lisa hails from the University of Washington in Seattle, where she graduated with honors with a BA in Psychology. After starting her career in Child Protection Services, she transitioned to Human Resources, and has over a decade of experience in that field.
Lisa has also served as Director of Human Resources at UPG since 2021.

Mary serves as Chief Administrative Officer of UPG. In this capacity, she oversees UPG Communications, Continuous Improvement, Corporate Engagement and IT (as a shared service with UVA Health IT). Mary joined UPG in 2016, and assumed the role of UPG Director of Communications in 2021. Prior to joining UPG, Mary was a corporate communications consultant for over a decade, specializing in healthcare communications.
Mary holds a master's degree from the UVA School of Education and Human Development, and a bachelor's degree from the University of Washington College of Arts and Sciences. Mary serves on the Board of Directors and the Philanthropy Council for the Charlottesville Free Clinic, and on the Development Committee for the Charlottesville Sexual Assault Resource Agency (SARA).

Dr. Compton is also director of ambulatory quality improvement for the UVA Department of Family Medicine and has served in the role of associate medical director of UVA Family Medicine, located in UVA Primary Care Center. A board-certified family nurse practitioner, she provides care for infants, children, adolescents and adults, with a particular interest in women's health, including prenatal and preventive care. She has completed the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology Mentorship Program and provides a variety of women's healthcare procedures, including colposcopy; contraception implantations, insertions and removals; and endometrial biopsies.
Dr. Compton is a board member for UVA Physicians Group, representing advanced practice providers. Additionally, she serves as president-elect for the Virginia Council of Nurse Practitioners, and is actively engaged in state and regional activities for nurse practitioners. Other roles at UVA include leading the quality improvement team, supervising the medical scribes who document patient interactions and overseeing the colposcopy elective for UVA Department of Family Medicine resident physicians.

Susan Rumsey serves as the Chief Financial Officer of UPG. In this capacity she oversees the areas of Finance and Accounting, Financial Planning & Analysis and Facilities for the organization. Susan joined UPG in 1996, and prior to assuming the CFO role she served in various positions with increasing responsibility across finance, planning, analysis and accounting. Susan holds a bachelor's degree in Mathematics from James Madison University.
