Anaëlle Boudry works at the European Sea Ports Organisation (ESPO) in the role of Senior Policy Advisor and advises on matters related to sustainable development, energy and blue growth. ESPO is the principal interface between European seaports and the European institutions and its policymakers. Dedicated to the waterborne transport sector, she also worked for two years as policy advisor in the European Federation of Inland Ports (EFIP), focusing her attention on EU energy and climate policy.
Anaëlle holds a Master degree in Political Sciences, International Relations and Diplomacy from the University of Louvain-la-Neuve, Belgium, graduating with the highest honour.

Andreas Kannen's work involves approaches for institutional and social assessments of environmental and economic changes in coastal areas. His focus is on changes in marine use patterns and evolvement of maritime industries, particularly offshore wind farming, Marine/Maritime Spatial Planning (MSP) and institutional aspects of marine governance. Dr. Kannen's specific interests include dimensions of scale (in time and space), differences in problem perspectives between actors from different sectors and countries, and the transnational dimensions of spatial planning.
Trained as a geographer, and following a research study in Bangladesh, Dr. Kannen gained experience at a consulting company before he joined the Research and Technology Centre Westcoast in Buesum, Northern Germany from 1996 to 2007. He finished his PhD on Integrated Coastal Zone Management (ICZM) at Kiel University in the year 2000 and has worked at HZG in the Department Human Dimensions of Coastal Areas since May 2007. Dr. Kannen is an experienced coordinator and work package leader of large national and international projects. Furthermore, he has been involved in several international research networks and advisory groups. Since 2010 and has served as chair of the ICES Working Group on Marine Planning and Coastal Zone Management (WGMPCZM) and as co-chair of related ICES Workshops such as Quality Assurance of MSP and Cultural Dimensions of Ecosystem Services.

Anna Petrig acquired her attorney's license from the Canton of Bern in 2006 and is admitted to practice law in the US state of New York.

Annalisse Sly is the Alternate Permanent Representative of Australia to the International Maritime Organization (IMO). Prior to being appointed to this role in December 2019, Annalisse held the role of Policy and Regulatory Senior Advisor, Environment Standards, in the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) and was responsible for developing, implementing and interpreting international conventions, government policy and legislation, to achieve a reduction in the incidence and effect of ship sourced marine pollution and other adverse environmental effects from shipping activities. Annalisse has been active in the IMO for over a decade where she has formed part of the Australian delegation for a number of IMO Committee and Sub-Committee meetings and Chaired the Working Group on Marine Plastic Litter, established by the Marine Environment Protection Committee. Annalisse has also been active in the IMO's Integrated Technical Cooperation Programme, undertaking engagement in the Asia-Pacific region on environmental shipping issues. Prior to joining AMSA in November 2011, Annalisse worked in policy development for the prevention and management of marine pest incursions for the Australian Government.

Bryan Watts has been in active duty service with the United States Coast Guard for 17 years as a marine engineer and maritime safety professional. This includes assignments as a marine inspector in Mobile, Alabama, and Chief of Port State Control in Seattle, Washington. Further, he completed two posts at Coast Guard Headquarters as a staff engineer at the Marine Safety Center, and,most recently, in policy and regulation development for the Office of Operating and Environmental Standards. Additional assignments include service as a Deck Watch Officer onboard the Coast Guard Cutter HARRIET LANE and Operations Officer at a command center in Nassau, Bahamas.
During his time at the Naval Postgraduate School, LCDR Watts specialized in dynamic systems and control, with thesis work on Unmanned Aerial Vehicle navigation within an indoor sensor environment. He currently holds a Professional Engineer License in the state of Alabama.
Bryan Watts joined the faculty of the World Maritime University in June 2022 where he is on secondment as a guest lecturer and liaison officer assigned to the Maritime Safety and Environmental Administration specialization.

Dr Aref Fakhry joined WMU in 2014 as an Associate Professor. He mainly lectures in WMU's MSc Maritime Law and Policy specialisation. His areas of expertise are commercial maritime law, maritime security, marine environmental law, and ocean governance and policy. Aref carries 15 years' experience as a lecturer at the IMO International Maritime Law Institute (IMLI) and the International Ocean Institute. Aref concurrently lectures at the Faculties of Law of the Holy Spirit University of Kaslik in Lebanon, and the University of Malta. He has acted as a consultant for IMO, REMPEC, UNEP, UNCTAD and the European Commission. Aref earned his PhD from the University of Southampton where he studied the implications of piracy in the Horn of Africa on maritime contracts. He is an advocate registered at the Montreal Bar in Canada. He is also a member of the Canadian Maritime Law Association. He is a citizen of both Lebanon and Canada. He speaks fluently Arabic, English and French, and has a good level of Spanish
Dr. Anas works as post-doctoral research associate at the World Maritime University (WMU). Anas embarked on his academic journey after serving as a ship captain in Jordan Navy. Anas has a Master of Science degree in Shipping Management and Logistics, and PhD in maritime affairs from WMU.
As a proud alumnus of WMU Sasakawa and the UN Nippon Research Program on the Law of the Sea, Anas focused on developing sustainability frameworks for the Port of Aqaba in Jordan. Anas's drive for excellence extends beyond his academic pursuits. He actively participated in high-level projects, collaborating with industry professionals, such as EU Bonus Baltimari, which focuses on enhancing maritime safety, and the WMU/ITF Future of Work project, which explored the integration of cutting-edge technologies in the shipping industry.
Anas still plays a pivotal role in the EU Horizon Seanergy project, dedicated to facilitating the transition of ports towards cleaner energy sources, reinforcing his commitment to sustainable port operations. Currently, Anas also works at WMU on IMO impact assessment of the GHG med term measures. Demonstrating his aptitude for research, Anas has published numerous studies in internationally renowned, peer-reviewed journals. Furthermore, Anas has leveraged his expertise by serving as a reviewer for internationally peer-reviewed maritime transport and sustainability journals.
Beyond academia, Anas has engaged with diverse nations, fostering international partnerships and contributing to the development of comprehensive transport strategies. Anas's accomplishments have not gone unnoticed, as he has been honored with prestigious accolades, including the Queen of Denmark Maregerate Second Medal for his outstanding service in the realm of international affairs.

Professor Dr. Aykut I. ÖLÇER is a naval architect and marine engineer holding the Nippon Foundation Professorial Chair in "Marine Technology and Innovation" at the World Maritime University (WMU). He is currently the Director of Research of WMU as well as the Head of Maritime Energy Management Specialization (MSc program). He served as the Editor-in-Chief of WMU Journal of Maritime Affairs (JOMA) and Book Series between February'17 and February'19. Prior to joining WMU, he worked at Newcastle University (England), University of Strathclyde (Scotland) and Istanbul Technical University (Türkiye) within the fields of Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. He played an important role in Newcastle University's first international branch in Singapore to help the University achieve its objectives in teaching/learning and research activities in the UG and PG programs of Marine Technology.

Mr. Andrea Betti studied law in Genova, Italy, and with a final dissertation on Maritime Law he was awarded his Master's Degree. After a period of apprenticeship in a Maritime Law firm, he started working in Costa Cruises' legal office, shifting to become a Navy (Coast Guard) Officer in 2001. Constantly interested in the interaction between legal and technical sides of shipping, worked in the Safety of Ports and Navigation Department of different Italian offices, landing to Sanremo, Italy, to become Harbour Master there.
Mr. Betti is a Port State Control Officer and Flag State Inspector, with duties ranging from PSC and Flag certification to ships and ports security, and SAR operations. In 2017 Andrea joined EMSA, where he is currently working as Project Officer for training and capacity building.

C.P. Srivastava was born on 8 July 1920 and was educated in Lucknow, India (BA, MA, LLB). He started his career as a civil servant in India, serving as the district administrator in Meerut and Lucknow, and then went on to the post of Joint Secretary to the Indian Prime Minister's office of the late Lal Bahadur Shastri from 1964-1966.
C.P. Srivastava become the first chief executive of the Shipping Corporation of India and in 1974 was elected to serve as the Secretary-General of the International Maritime Organization (IMO), a United Nations agency based in London, serving successive four-year terms as Secretary-General from 1974 to 1989. During this time he played a pioneering role in the establishment of the International Maritime Academy in Italy, and the International Maritime Law Institute in Malta. He was the Founding Father and also the first Chancellor of World Maritime University which was founded in 1983 to address a pressing need for maritime professionals in the developing world. Sir C. P. Srivastava was the inspired prime mover in the development of the concept of World Maritime University and in the immense job of planning, negotiating, fundraising, organizing and implementation that was required to take a vision and turn it into a reality. This was achieved through his dedication and perseverance.
He received the Padma Bhusan in 1972 in recognition of his contributions to establishing one of the most successful public sector undertakings in India. In 1987 he was named an honorary graduate by the University of Wales. In 1990, in recognition of his service and contribution to world shipping, C. P. Srivastava was conferred, by Queen Elizabeth II of the United kingdom, the title of Honorary Knight Commander of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George. In 1991, he received the International Maritime prize from the IMO for his contribution to their work and objectives. In 2005 he was awarded the 2004 Lal bahadur Shastri National Award for Excellence in Public Administration and Management Sciences by the then President of India, A. P. J. Abdul Kalam. In 2009, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian award, by the President of India.
Sir C.P. Srivastava is married to Nirmala Srivastava, the founder of Sahaja Yoga, a unique method of meditation, based on an experience called self-realization. Sir C. P. Srivastava has stated that his life has been greatly influenced by his wife and he has been motivated by her vision of one Almighty God and one human family. This vision has motivated him in all aspects of his life and he believes that it can be applied world wide.
