Known as "Sister G" by the people of Diepsloot that she works with, Gail is completely dedicated to the development and upliftment of the Diepsloot community, the potential of its economy and to telling positive new stories about what happens there. Diepsloot is situated north of Johannesburg and is a post-apartheid community of close to 800 000 people, with high unemployment, crime and social ills - yet, with a vibrant, passionate and energetic population, which thrives on challenges and defies the odds.
Gail has worked in Diepsloot for the past 4 years and operates from the Father Louis Blondel Centre in Extension 10. She is passionate about advancing women's economic and social equality, facilitating the development of viable business models for emerging and micro/small businesses, specifically growing the media and technology sectors. She is determined that young people learn about taking care of the environment, natural resources and animals.
The Trust is a special purpose vehicle for Socio-Economic, Enterprise and Supplier Development Funds and she assures corporate contributors of both points on the BEE Scorecard and sustainable and meaningful programmes. She takes a strategic and systemic approach to the work she does, speaks at conferences on real Corporate Social Responsibility and is known by her peers as the Networking Queen for her abilities to collaborate and create connections.
Gail is supported by four other trustees and advisory board members.
