With undergraduate studies from Millikin University and graduate degrees from the University of Illinois, Gary has served as director of music in numerous churches both in Illinois and here in Lexington. In addition he is Professor Emeritus at Transylvania University. Gary is Conductor and Music Director of the Lexington Chamber Chorale, a professional chorus.

Jackie has been a member at Second since 1990, and became the Parish Nurse in June, 2000. She was graduated from Northern Illinois University College of Nursing and has primarily worked in community health. Jackie was a long time board member of Family Care Center.
Currently she is on the Board for Interfaith Counseling Center, an active volunteer for Safe Kids Coalition, and has taught Sunday School for 30 years.

Jen has a lifelong interest in spiritual education of all ages, and has spent her adult life volunteering, teaching and leading in youth, children's, nursery, and family programs and ministries. She is passionate about connecting children and youth with God and supporting families in helping their children build a foundation of faith to carry with them into their adult life. She has been at Second since Fall 2013, beginning as the WOW Storyteller in children's worship, and feels blessed to be in ministry here. She is married to Gary Murphy and their blended family includes six children: Ashton, Christopher, Ryan, Brayden, Teagan, and Ellie - as well as Cleo the cat and Teddy the dog. Jen is a graduate of Transylvania University with a BA in Business Management and Marketing. She loves reading, the beach, and traveling to new places.

Jenna has been one of our 1 st and 2 nd grade Sunday School class teachers for the past four years as well. She is also currently a preschool teacher for the Second Presbyterian Parents Morning Out program. Prior to moving to Lexington, she was an elementary school counselor in Alaska and shares that, "It is my joy to be joining children's ministry at Second!"

Pastor John P. Leggett began his ministry with the people of Second Presbyterian in January of 2019. Prior to moving to Lexington, he most recently served as the pastor for fifteen years of Massanutten Presbyterian Church in Penn Laird, VA. He is married to Alayne, and together they have two daughters (Rachel and Sarah) and a son (Aaron). An English major with a degree from Bethel College, he also completed the Master of Divinity at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, as well as Master of Theology in Preaching and Worship from Princeton Theological Seminary. John enjoys hiking, photography, and writing.
My name is Joyce Kermode and I was born in NY but raised in Lexington, Ky.
I graduated from the University of KY in Marketing and the MIC at UK in Education. I've had the joy and pleasure of working with children ranging from newborns to elementary school age children within the last five years. I've been a Sunday school teacher and have volunteered with various organizations in Lexington.

Kim has worked with kids all her life. She spent her high school years helping in Sunday school and babysitting. After high school, she went away to Lincoln Christian College, found her husband, Mike, and got married. She spent the next several years as a nanny outside of Chicago. Then in 2012, they moved to Lexington and have loved making it their home. Kim has been working at Ecumenical Preschool as a teacher in various ages since 2016. She and her husband have 2 boys in the Spanish Immersion program at Maxwell Elementary and Bryan Station Middle School. Kim and her family love the outdoors. They spend their free time hiking, camping, and kayaking.

Martha loves hearing the congregation sing lustily during the hymns and enjoys enhancing our worship experience with organ selections. After graduating from Millikin University, Martha has served as organist at numerous churches in cities including, Decatur, IL, Bloomington, IL, Champaign, IL, and First Presbyterian, Lexington, KY. Martha is also a music teacher at The Lexington School and sings in The Lexington Chamber Chorale.

Scarlet is a Kentucky native who graduated from the University of Kentucky with a BA in accounting. She and her husband, Jim, live in Lawrenceburg. They have three children, Lauren (Andrew), Austin and Sidney (Noah) and three grandchildren Hazel, Henry & Beau. Scarlet and her family are members of the First Baptist Church of Lawrenceburg.

Shawn is married to David Phelps and has two sons, Justin and Kevin, and one daughter, Taylor. Shawn and her family returned to Lexington, her home town, in 1998. She is a member of Southland Christian Church. In her spare time, she likes to travel and spend time with her husband and children.
