Allison Roach is a registered dietitian with 21 years of experience. Her experience includes GI, Renal, long term care and her special interest is nutrition counseling. Allison loves being a dietician because she is able to help people achieve their health and wellness goals. In her free time, she enjoys exercising, reading and also makes time for being an advisor for Kapp Alpha Theta.

Dr. Syn grew up in California and went to medical school and completed surgical training in New York. Since finishing his training in 2002 he has been practicing bariatric surgery in Lubbock, TX. He loves Texas and it is his home now and he has no plans for relocating from this great state. He is very passionate about his patients and his practice and in innovating to ensure the very best most up to date care for his patients. He has performed approximately 5,000 primary (first time) bariatric operations and over 1,000 revisional (redo) operations (most revisions by a single surgeon world-wide). Dr. Syn was trained in bariatric surgery during his residency and in practice has been trained additionally in robotic surgery and incisionless bariatric surgeries (EBTs, Endoscopic Bariatric Therapies). He performs minimally invasive Sleeve gastrectomies, Gastric Bypasses, Duodenal switch surgeries (standard and loop) and incisionless surgeries such as ESG (Endoscopic Sleeve gastroplasty) and has performed some of the most complex revisional operations possible. Dr. Syn also performs body contouring surgeries for his patients after massive weight loss. Dr. Syn has served as medical director for bariatric surgery at all the major hospitals in Lubbock and has advocated for better access for his patients at all levels. Dr. Syn is constantly looking at ways to improve surgeries and delivery of care, to make them safer and more effective and has multiple patents pending pertaining to such improvements.

Erica has been with Dr. Syn since 2005 after she finished her medical assistant training and clinical training with Dr. Syn. Erica became a licensed CNA in 2009. From the beginning Erica has been passionate about bariatric patients and loves hearing their transformation stories as she is evaluating them. Although very busy with vitals, patient evaluations, office tests and scheduling she is very efficient and always has the time to smile and joke with our patients and loves seeing how positively their bariatric surgeries have affected their lives.

Janet has worked in the medical field for over 41 years and has been the Business office manager for numerous hospitals. Janet has a wealth of knowledge related to insurance, billing and contracting. Janet has been with Dr. Syn since he opened his practice in 2002 when he recruited her from her hospital Business office manager position and taught him everything he knows about insurance, billing and contracting. Janet also has a passion for bariatric patients as she has seen the tremendous positive transformations in health and quality of life that bariatric patients undergo after bariatric surgery. Janet served as office manager for Dr. Syn from 2002 to 2016, as she wanted to retire in 2016, however with some coaxing and pleading from Dr. Syn, she agreed to remain on while working part time from home as our Billing/Insurance/Contracting specialist and fill in Office manager.

Rosie is our kind and sweet front office person who was recruited from another Dr's office. Her interest in bariatrics began while working for another Dr's office and seeing the positive changes in the lives of patients being referred to them from Dr. Syn's office. Whether on the phone or in person she will greet you with a smile and is willing to help in any way she can. She is now our "Director of First Impressions!"

Sandra has been working in Insurance/Authorizations for over 9 years. Sandra has a broad base of experience as she has been working with authorizations for Drs' offices, Hospices and Hospitals. When her experience and efficiency were noticed by Dr. Syn while working for a major hospital, she was recruited to come work for him in the office. She is very efficient and amazing in how quickly she can navigate the ins and outs of insurance in order to help people get approved for their surgeries and achieve their goals. She has a smile that lights up a room and always makes our patients feel loved and welcome. "I love my job! Watching their faces before, during and after surgery is something I enjoy so much!"
Sherry began her medical career as a surgical technologist in 2000. She became a certified surgical tech in 2003. She finished her training and became a Certified First Assistant in the OR in 2007. Sherry began working with Dr. Syn in the OR in 2008 and experienced the wonderful transformations bariatric patients were undergoing, regaining their health while losing weight and developed a passion for bariatric patients. Sherry was hired by Dr. Syn to work with him in the office as well as assist in the OR in 2011. When the officer manager for Dr. Syn retired in 2016, Sherry was promoted to the position of office manager however still assists in surgeries in the Hospital.
