ALEX HODGE

Alex Hodge is an award-winning multi-instrumentalist with over 40 years of music performance and teaching experience. Alex teaches 5-string banjo, mandolin, electric bass, and a wide range of acoustic and electric guitar styles in his home studio. A 'string wizard,' he has competed in the National Banjo Contest in Winfield, Kansas, placed first in the Santa FE, NM bluegrass festival band contest playing guitar, and has won awards playing bass in a jazz band. He currently performs around the Washington D. C. metro area on acoustic and electric guitars and as a solo classical guitarist. He is a founding member of The Virginia Woodpickers, a progressive acoustic string band playing top 40 and R&B music from the 1960s, 70s and 80s. Alex earned a Bachelor's degree in Professional Music with highest honors (Summa Cum Laude) from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, where he studied guitar performance, songwriting, and arranging.
