Dr. Ivan Russell Whetten

Dr. Ivan Russell Whetten was born and raised in Orem, Utah. After a church mission in Mexico City, Dr. Whetten enlisted and served in the United States Marine Corps infantry, which included deployment to Iraq. He later received an honorable discharge while serving as a Light Armored Reconnaissance vehicle commander. Dr. Whetten received a bachelor's degree in exercise science from Brigham Young University and a Doctor of Optometry degree from the University of Houston. During his optometry education he was selected as one of only a handful of clinicians to receive special training in both the neuro-ophthalmology clinic and the acclaimed Dry Eye Center at the University of Houston. Dr. Whetten also completed clinical rotations at the Salt Lake City VA hospital and the Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah and has practiced for several years in comprehensive eye care clinics gaining extensive experience in pediatric eye care, custom contact lens fitting, diabetic eye care, and the management of macular degeneration, glaucoma, and ocular surgical postoperative care. Dr. Whetten enjoys running, playing music, and bike rides with his three children.

Dr. Jared Freestone

Dr. Jared Freestone graduated magna cum laude from the Southern California College of Optometry at Marshall B. Ketchum University in Fullerton, CA with a Doctorate of Optometry Degree. Dr. Freestone received his undergraduate bachelor of science degree in geography from Brigham Young University in Provo, UT. Dr. Freestone completed clinical rotations at the Salt Lake City Veterans Administration; the Moran Eye Center at the University of Utah; the University Eye Center at Los Angeles, CA; the Eye Care Center in Fullerton, CA; and Hoopes Vision in Draper, UT. Dr Freestone's clinical training includes pediatrics, contact lens, diabetic eye care, ocular disease treatment and management, ocular infections and emergencies, and pre/post operative care for LASIK and cataract surgery. His favorite area of focus is in pediatrics. Dr. Freestone has had extensive training in the pediatric sub-field of optometry and enjoys helping children to see more clearly and maximize their visual potential. Dr. Freestone grew up in southern California, is an Eagle Scout and served in the Canada, Halifax Mission. He loves spending time with his wife Melissa and their four daughters. He also enjoys playing guitar and scuba diving.

Dr. Steven J. Weaver

​Dr. Steven Weaver grew up in Bancroft, Idaho on a dairy farm where he was involved in many activities during high school including varsity football, basketball, and track, drama, and choir, as well as becoming an eagle scout, student-body vice president, and valedictorian of his high school. Following his two year church mission to California, Dr. Weaver attended Utah State University and graduated cum laude with a degree in Biology. Dr. Weaver graduated with distinction from the Southern California College of Optometry as the valedictorian of his class. While attending the Southern California College of Optometry Dr. Weaver received numerous awards including Dixon Scholar of the Year, Beta Sigma Kappa Optometric Honor Society Silver Medallian for Academic Excellence, Utah Vision Foundation Scholarship, and the Minnie F. Turner Memorial Grant for Research in Vision Impairment. Dr. Weaver has also completed clinical rotations at the Optometric Center of Los Angeles, The Optometric Center of Fullerton, TLC Laser Center at Newport Beach, Foothill Center for the Partially Sighted, Salt Lake City Veteran's Hospital, Moran Eye Center, and the Eye Foundation of Utah. Dr. Weaver lives in Highland with his wife Alison and two sons Jeremy and Jaxson. He spends a lot of his spare time in the mountains on his mountain bike as well as mountain bike racing. Dr. Weaver also travels several times a year to remote villages in Alaska to provide eye care there. Dr. Weaver is available for appointments in Lehi and Saratoga Springs.

Dr. W. Carlan Reese

Dr. W. Carlan Reese is a native of Utah, spending the first 19 years of his life in Sandy. Following his 2 year church mission to Chile, Dr. Reese volunteered for a 3 month medical anthropology study in a small Mayan village in the Highlands of Guatemala. The following year he spent 3 months helping to establish a literacy program in a small town outside of Puebla, Mexico. Dr. Reese received his B.S degree from Brigham Young University, where he graduated on the Dean's list and as a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society. Dr. Reese then continued his graduate studies at the Southern California College of Optometry, where he received his Doctor of Optometry degree. While attending SCCO, Dr. Reese was the recipient of the Utah Vision Foundation Scholarship, the Chela Financial Scholarship, and was one of only a few to receive the Western Interstate Commerce for Higher Education (WICHE) scholarship sponsored by the state of Utah. Dr. Reese completed clinical rotations at the Optometric Center of Fullerton, TLC Laser Center in Newport Beach, Warm Springs Indian Health Services, Salt Lake City VA hospital, The Eye Foundation of Utah, and the Moran Eye Center. Dr. Reese now resides in Highland, Utah, with his wife and 4 kids. In his spare time, he likes to coach and play sports, as well as try and keep up with his children in whatever sport they may be playing. Dr. Reese also travels several times a year to remote villages in Alaska to provide eyecare there. Dr. Reese is available to see patients at both the Saratoga Springs and Lehi offices.
