Bear Pond Books is a locally owned, independent bookstore committed to offering a quality selection of affordable new and used books, children's books, and gifts for all ages. The thoughtful selection we offer focuses on expanding your knowledge, but also provides great entertainment for the whole family. We make it our mission to be the place to find just what you are looking for, even if you didn't know you needed it!... Our History: Bear Pond Books has been in downtown Montpelier since 1973. We started out at 100 Main Street and moved to our current location at 77 Main Street after the flood of 1992. In 2006 owners Claire Benedict and Robert Kasow purchased the business from founder Michael Katzenberg. In 2015 Bear Pond Books merged with Montpelier's used bookstore Rivendell Books and now carries a choice selection of used books along with new books.
