Fanfare Magazine Group was founded in 1984 by Brad Hughes, who was joined in the business by partner and wife Laurie Hughes in 1989. From its beginning the company has had a simple one-sentence mission statement: to promote the best places in Winnipeg. That mission statement has inspired the development of all the targeted publications in the Fanfare portfolio... In 1985 WHERE Winnipeg was first published, debuting in the smallest tourism destination within the WHERE network. Owned since its inception by Fanfare Magazine Group, it is now read by over 300,000 people annually. The first WHERE magazine was published in Detroit in 1936, to provide essential information for business travellers. Since then WHERE has become the largest international network of destination travel magazines. Editions are published in over 40 cities globally, including all of the world's great cities--London, Paris, Rome, New York, Hong Kong and Winnipeg!... In 1995 Fanfare created the annual Stars of the City..
