Andrew Muirhead

Andrew Muirhead is the newest member to join Building Code & Bushfire Hazard Solutions joining us at the beginning of 2018. He is an active member of the NSW Rural Fire Service with over 10 years' experience and has successfully completed his Basic, Village, Advanced Fire Fighter and Crew Leader courses. Throughout his service he has participated in numerous hazard reduction burns, delivered various training programs, competed in fire-fighting competitions, attending emergency calls and other activities associated with the RFS. Andrew with his NSW Rural Fire Service experience and his Civil Engineering knowledge has quickly become an invaluable member of Building Code & Bushfire Hazard Solutions. Andrew 's role includes undertaking site inspections, fire trail, and land surveys as well as the preparation of both Bush Fire and BAL Assessments. Andrew is one of the newer members of our team joining us in 2018. He brought with him his Civil Engineering knowledge and almost 20 years of experience with the NSW Rural Fire Service. His diversity has made him fast become a key member of our team with him becoming a FPA Accredited Bushfire Consultant and completing his Batchelor of Civil Engineering.

Christine McMonnies

Christine joined us in 2014 bringing with her sound customer liaison experience gained from an extensive retail management background. Her current roles include her undertaking a diverse number of administrative assistant duties and ensuring that all assessments are delivered to clients promptly and efficiently. Her diversity and energetic ability to take up new responsibilities has proven her to be an esteemed member of our team.

David McMonnies - Managing Director

David is the founder of Building Code & Bushfire Hazard Solutions which was established in 1999. He is examination qualified with The Institution of Fire Engineers to full ‘Member" level and holds a Masters Degree in Construction Management, a Graduate Diploma in Design in Bushfire Prone Areas and is a recognised FPA Australia BPAD Level 3 Accredited Practitioner.

Duncan Armour

Duncan joined our team as a Part Time Bushfire Consultant in 2003 and has extensive combined fire fighting experience with both Fire & Rescue NSW and the NSW Rural Fire Service. Duncan is a valued member of our team.

FPA Accrediated Bushfire

Ian Tyerman joined our team in 2012 bringing with him over 30 years of NSW Rural Fire Services experience and an extensive knowledge of CAD. During his 30 plus years with the NSW Rural Fire Service Ian had successfully completed his Basic, Village, Advanced Fire Fighter and Crew Leader courses and had been involved in hazard reduction burns, remote area fire fighting and hundreds of emergency incidents (including campaign wildfires, motor vehicle accidents, search and rescue etc). Ian rose to the position of Captain of The Bays Rural Fire Brigade where he was responsible for the entire brigade both on day to day operations and at emergency incidents. Ian had also been a Sector Leader and Duty Officer of major emergency events which made him responsible for multiple crews made up of numerous brigades. Ian is a valued Bushfire Consultant and member of our team, who has completed the Planning for Bushfire Prone Areas short course at University of Technology Sydney. His role within our firm include undertaking site inspections and land surveys as well as the preparation of both Bush Fire and BAL Assessments. Ian's extensive CAD knowledge also gives him the ability to produce various mapping designs/drawings pertinent to Bushfire.

Katrina Sarten

Katrina joined our team in 2005 as our Office Administrator. She is responsible for the day to day running of the office and looks after everything from debt collection, to marketing, to project estimates, to human resources and overlooks report delivery to clients. She brought her diverse employment expertise along with additional knowledge acquired while completing Certificates II & III in Business Administration, Advanced MYOB and more recently her Diploma of Business.

Stuart McMonnies

Stuart McMonnies joined the team in 2003 and has now progressed up to Director & Manager of the Bushfire Section bringing with him fresh ideas and outlooks to various bushfire design and mitigation matters. Stuart is an active member of the Rural Fire Service (over 17 years) successfully completing his Basic, Village, Advanced Fire Fighter and Crew Leader courses. He has been involved in wildfires, hazard reduction burns, and prepares mapping data for proposed hazard reductions at a local Brigade level. Stuart has also been a Sector Leader and Field Operations Assistant, being responsible for multiple crews of many brigades. Stuart currently holds the position of Deputy Captain in the Berowra Waters Brigade. Stuart has completed a Graduate Diploma in Bushfire Design Prone Areas from the University of Western Sydney, Certificate IV in Fire Technology (with Distinctions), and Certificate IV Business Management (with Distinctions). Stuart is a recognised FPA Australia BPAD Level 3 Accredited Practitioner. This enables him to provide Bushfire Attack Level Certificates for Complying Development (CDC) and deemed-to-satisfy or alternate solutions reports for Development Applications (DAs). Stuart has also gained valuable experience in fire detection design, review of building plans and specifications, presentation of evacuation training and demonstrating portable fire appliances. Stuart's skills allow him to competently work on and analyse computer modelling for bushfire design in order to provide subsequent alternative solutions to bushfire issues as necessary. Stuart joined the team in 2003 and has now progressed to the positions of Director & Manager Bushfire Section. Stuart is an active member of the NSW Rural Fire Service providing over 23 years of service so far. He has completed a Graduate Diploma in Bushfire Design Prone Areas, Certificate IV in Fire Technology and Certificate IV Business Management. Stuart is a recognised FPA Australia BPAD Level 3 Accredited Practitioner, which enables him to provide Bushfire Attack Level Certificates for Complying Development (CDC) and deemed-to-satisfy or alternate solutions reports for Development Applications (DA).
