Dave has been a Pella resident since 1998. He holds a bachelor's degree from Central College. Council Member Hopkins began working at Koopman Roofing in 2005. He purchased the business in 2014, renaming it Hopkins Roofing. Dave is actively involved in several entrepreneurial ventures in and around the Pella community.
Dave's current term expires December 31, 2027.

John holds a bachelor's degree in Agricultural Business with a minor in Economic Analysis from Iowa State University, 1970. In 1992 he earned his CPA certificate after completing study at the University of Illinois. Between 1970 and 1992, he owned and managed grain elevators in central Illinois. With the CPA certificate, he worked in various industries including the scrap and recycling industry in Danville, IL, the commodity futures business as chief financial officer in Bloomington, IL, and for the past twenty-three years as a financial advisor in Bloomington, IL and Wheat Ridge, CO. He moved to Pella in March 2021.
John's current term expires December 31, 2027.
Family
John is married to Mary Ellen, celebrating their 49 th year in March 2024. They have two adult children and four grandchildren. John enjoys reading history, projects around the house, and travel.
Goals
Council Member Butler's goals for Pella include:
Reducing Pella's debt
Taking care of what we have - maintenance
Working with industry and individuals to increase housing options
Increasing public awareness of businesses not located on the square

- Council Member Mark De Jong, at Large / Council Member Mark De Jong Is Serving His 12th Term on the Pella City Council. His Service to the City Began in January 1978.
Council Member De Jong holds a bachelor's degree from Drake University in business administration. Council Member De Jong is active as a mentor with the Kids Hope USA program and participates in an Executive Round Table with a variety of businesses. He has been awarded the Public Service Award by the Pella Chamber of Commerce.
Mark's current term expires December 31, 2025.
Family
Council Member De Jong is married to his wife Mary, and they have two children: a daughter, Kriss, and a son, Craig. In his spare time, Council Member De Jong enjoys golf, biking, reading, pickle ball, and Crossfit.
