Reverend Janet Maykus

Job Titles:
  • Reverend
  • Senior Pastor
Janet Maykus is a cradle Disciple. She was loved and taught by the good people of First Christian, Lancaster, Texas. As the church was just a few hundred feet from her home on Barry Lane, she spent numerous afternoons after school visiting with her pastor. The group their youth minister led shaped many kids who grew to be concerned about others, the environment, education, inclusive communities, and the life of the spirit. Janet studied at Texas Christian University and Duke University Divinity School. She served as a hospital chaplain, the director of hospice spiritual care and bereavement services, the director of church relations at TCU, Executive Vice President of Operations for Church Extension, and was Senior Interim Minister at Central Christian in Austin, Texas. Janet also served as the executive director of a statewide environmental non-profit, EarthShare of Texas. Janet has three wonderful grown sons, Austin, Benjamin, and Nico who are the lights of her life. Austin and Nico live in Austin while Ben lives in Indianapolis. Janet and her life partner Tom Booker have a comedy duo, The Texas Gothics, and they look forward to bringing them to life in Nashville. Tom is a performer and acting/writing teacher who taught at the Second City Training Center in Los Angeles, and started theaters in Chicago, L.A., and Austin, Texas. Janet is honored to be called to Eastwood Christian, and looks forward to serving this beautiful beloved community.
