Michael Lewis Haines

Michael Lewis Haines, 64, of Quincy, passed away peacefully at 6:52 p.m. on Friday, March 29, 2024, at The Ohio State Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital. He was born in Fayette County, Ohio on January 12, 1960, a son of the late Lewis Haines and Sarah (Reed) Perdue. On October 17, 1987, Mike married, his wife of 36 ½ years, Lora Lorene (Spriggs) Haines in Bellefontaine, Ohio and she survives. He is also survived by a son, Daryn (Ginger Brooks) Haines; a granddaughter, Paris; three sisters, Shelly (Jeff) Oppy, Lisa Spriggs, and Deb (Gary) Douglas; seven nieces and nephews of whom he was extremely proud, Jessy (Zach) Bias, Kyle Oppy, Connor Oppy, Tony (Kay) Spriggs, Brooks (Michelle) Spriggs, Kristy Spriggs, and Tammy Wolaver; and several beloved extended family members, cousins, and friends. Mike attended West Liberty-Salem High School prior to his family moving to Bellefontaine, graduating from Bellefontaine High School in 1978. He attended Hi-Point where he focused on small engine repair and drafting. Mike was proud of the fact that he joined the U.S. Army while in high school and was honorably discharged. He was a musician for the past 50 years, 47 years as a bass player.
