Dr. Cherry was a spiritual leader with a vision who knew who he was in Christ Jesus and as a male seed. He was a no-nonsense, uncompromising teacher of the Word of God, whose primary focus was on developing strong male leadership and strengthening the family unit through that leadership. Dr. Cherry's teaching ministry reached all over the world, including Asia, Western and Eastern Europe and South America, touching lives and leading multiple thousands of people worldwide to a saving knowledge of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
Bishop Cherry was consecrated as the Episcopal Pastor of From the Heart Church Ministries Worldwide™ on Sunday, July 15, 2018 at our 3rd General Church Meeting. In this capacity, he serves as the oversight of all From the Heart churches both stateside and internationally. Bishop Cherry is also currently pastoring From the Heart Church Ministries ®, the Parent Church, in Suitland, Maryland. He was officially installed as the Pastor of From the Heart on Sunday, June 4, 2006 at its 25th Anniversary Worship Service, which was held at the Verizon Center in Washington, DC.
Bishop Cherry has a desire to do the Will of the Father, to preach His uncompromised Word and a readiness to obey God's instructions. He takes his duty and responsibility to teach and interpret God's Word very seriously and spends countless hours in preparation, meditation and study for each sermon that he delivers.

In his position of oversight, Bishop Cherry holds training and conferences for the From the Heart pastors, overseers and bishops. He has also developed a three-year Course of Study for Ministerial Training and he teaches this training to ministers, elders and those with a call to ministry. In his pastoral assignment, the congregation that he has charge over consists of over 20,000 people with approximately 4,250 people attending weekly services live and over 10,000 weekly connections to the stream of these services. He also manages the daily operations of the ministry. This includes the management of over 100 members on staff within various departments, a Christian School which ranges from pre-school and kindergarten to high school, and over 70 volunteer ministries.
Bishop Cherry is the Chairman of the Episcopal Council and the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of From the Heart Church Ministries Worldwide™ and is the Headmaster of From the Heart Christian School.
Bishop Cherry is a self-proclaimed "equal opportunity preacher" and has preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ with boldness and conviction at many churches around the world, ranging from the smallest to the largest.

Bishop John A. Cherry, II is a born-again, Spirit-filled man of God who gave his life to the Lord in 1981 at age 11. Bishop Cherry received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies with a minor in English from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, Virginia. He is married to Reverend LaWanda M. Cherry and they have two daughters, Abriona and Aleah, and one son, John A. Cherry, III.
Episcopal Pastor Emeritus John A. Cherry (1940 - 2019) was a native of Alabama and was raised in a loving, Christian home. His father, the late Presiding Elder Joseph H. Cherry, served in a denominational church, where Dr. Cherry received his early childhood Christian education.
Dr. John A. Cherry is the Founder of the From the Heart Church Ministries, Inc.® in Suitland, Maryland. Dr. Cherry left the business world to enter full-time ministry in 1981, after answering the call of God to the Pastorate. His business acumen and experience under the anointing of the Holy Spirit have caused From the Heart Church Ministries® to grow from a small storefront church into a multi-million dollar, worldwide Christian Church ministry. Dr. Cherry's evangelistic outreach ministry touched lives throughout the United States and abroad.

Reverend Cherry is the Worldwide Coordinator of From the Heart Church Ministries Worldwide™, assisting her husband in the worldwide ministry, and is responsible for the internal administrative operation of the Office of the Episcopal Pastor. She has a formidable work ethic and works diligently to help her husband by filling whatever duty he assigns to her, which ranges from providing counsel to women, to working with staff to implement his decisions.
Reverend Diana P. Cherry is a born-again Spirit-filled woman of God who has willingly become a yielded vessel and obedient servant of the Lord. She was ordained an Elder on May 28, 1988. She is the widow of Dr. John A. Cherry. Together they built the From the Heart Church Ministries® - Parent Church, which began as a small storefront in June 1981, to an expansive church and administrative complex, serving over 27,000 members. Since the inception of the ministry in 1981, it has grown to include an audio and videotape ministry that reaches all over the world.
Reverend Cherry has two children: Sharon Mitchell and Episcopal Pastor, Bishop John A. Cherry, II; one son-in-law, William Mitchell, III; one daughter-in-law, Reverend LaWanda M. Cherry; seven grandchildren: Renee, William the IV, Diana, Elisha, Abriona, Aleah, and John the III; and eight great-grandchildren: Kanae, Elijah, Kevin, Isaiah, Imani, Caysen, Israel and Jiselle.
Reverend Cherry is a dynamic preacher of the Word of God who practically applies the Word in her own life. She also teaches in a simple, scriptural, Christ-centered manner so that those who have an "ear to hear" might be able to take God's Word from abstract to actuality in their lives. Reverend Cherry has traveled throughout the United States and abroad as a minister of the Gospel. She has touched the lives of thousands of women through teachings such as "God's Plan for the Woman," "How to Become God's Woman," and "Portrait of a Virtuous Woman." These teachings were the basis for the formation of From the Heart's women's fellowship - "Women of God: Lifegivers," founded by Reverend Cherry.
Reverend LaWanda M. Cherry is a born-again and Holy Ghost-filled Christian who gave her life to the Lord at the age of 9 in 1979. Cherry, II and is the proud mother of their two daughters, Abriona and Aleah, and one son, John A. Cherry, III.
