The Long Beach Museum of Art (LBMA) was founded in 1950 as a municipal art center for the city of Long Beach... Long Beach Museum of Art is pleased to announce the successful completion of an Institute for Museum and Library Services (IMLS) grant to fund, in part, the four-year project, "Illuminating Decades of California Women Artists: 1950-Present." This effort enabled the project team to photograph, research, describe, document, and catalog 515 works in a variety of media and styles by 271 women artists. The project provides a significant increase in publicly accessible collection information about museum objects and raises the visibility of and appreciation for the institution's historical collection of women artists and their contributions to California's artistic scene... LBMA is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and has earned the highest possible 4-star rating from Charity Navigator, America's largest independent charity evaluator.
