Chris H. Brown

Chris graduated from the University of Texas Southwestern at Dallas with a Master's degree in Physician Assistant studies. He has been practicing in West Texas since1992 beginning his career in neurosurgery then joining Lubbock Urology in 2006. Chris is married with four kids. He enjoys travelling, camping, tennis and watching his kids grow up.

Dr. Carl Britton

Dr. Carl Britton is an urologist who specializes in children's reconstructive surgery using microsurgial techniques. In addition to his work with children, Dr. Britton also specializes in female incontinence and male infertility. Dr. Britton completed his internship in surgery at Texas Tech University, where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. From there, he completed his urology residency at the University of New Mexico, where he served as chief resident. While obtaining his doctorate of medicine of University of New Mexico, Dr. Britton received the Faculty Award for Excellence and the Alonzo C. Neufeld Award from the Western Orthopedic Association. He has published and presented his research at numerous meetings including the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, Yale University School of Architecture, as well as numerous medical and surgical grand rounds Texas Tech University. He is a seven time recipient of the Texas Super Doctor Award from "Texas Monthly". Dr. Britton is certified by the American Board of Urology and is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He also is a member of the American Urology Association. Dr. Britton is licensed to practice medicine in the State of Texas and is a member of the Texas Medical Association. In addition, Dr. Britton is the immediate past president of the Texas Urological Society and currently is a member of the Lubbock Pediatric Society and the Lubbock-Crosby-Garza Medical Society. He also serves on the board of directors and medical advisory committee for the National Kidney Foundation of West Texas.

Dr. Kanwaljit "Sonny" Mahal

Dr. Kanwaljit "Sonny" Mahal is excited to join Lubbock Urology Clinic, Lubbock's oldest established urology group and its well respected urology physician's. Dr. Mahal has been an established urology physician in the Lubbock community for the last five years. His philosophy of building patient relationships goes hand in hand with this clinics belief of providing advanced solutions from people who care. "Helping patients with diverse needs while developing long-term relationships is why I find the practice of urology so rewarding." -Sonny Mahal Dr. Mahal grew up in California and is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley. He completed his medical training at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and completed his residency at UT Health Sciences Center in San Antonio. In his free time, he enjoys playing and watching sports, especially college football. Appointments for new and established patients are now being accepted. Dr. Scott Steven Spore

Dr. Scott Steven Spore specializes in urology, and has over 20 years of experience in the field of medicine. He received his undergraduate degree in biochemistry from Texas A&M; University and his M.D. degree from the University of Texas Medical School at San Antonio in 1991. He went on to complete his residency in urology in 2001. Dr. Spore and his wife moved to Lubbock shortly thereafter and still reside in Lubbock with their four children. He is affiliated with numerous hospitals and surgery centers, including Lubbock Heart and Surgical, Northstar, Grace, Covenant Medical Center, University Medical Center, Trustpoint, and Covenant Surgicenter. Dr. Spore is board certified in urology and practices general adult urology. He is accepting new patients. He has a special interest in female/male incontinence, female pelvic pain, interstitial cystitis, chronic UTIs, female pelvic prolapse both mesh and non-mesh options, Interstim (neuromodulation for the bladder/bowel), Botox for incontinence, laser TURP, treatment of stone disease, advanced laparoscopic treatments for kidney disease, BPH treatment and prostate cancer. For almost all visits, Dr. Spore encourages family members, especially spouses or parents, to come the first time. It helps to have a ‘second set of ears' as issues are discussed. Dr. Spore offers intravenous relaxing medications, for those who wish to have it, prior to vasectomies. This approach helps those who may have some anxiety when it comes to the vasectomy procedure. It is a safe, convenient and quick process. He currently serves on the board of Parkridge Pregnancy Center and Young Life of Lubbock Committee. Dr. Spore enjoys spending time with his family and participating in short-term mission opportunities.

Kathleen Gutierrez

Kathleen Gutierrez was born and raised right here in Lubbock, Texas by Stephen and Patricia Frisbie. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in nursing from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in 2005. Her nursing career began in the Adult Emergency at Covenant Medical center in 2005, where she developed a strong foundation as a nurse. In 2007, she transferred to the Surgical Assessment Services unit at Covenant Lakeside and also attained admission into the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. She graduated with a Master's of Science in Nursing in 2010, and is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is a member of the Society of Urological Nurses and Associates, American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and Texas Nurse Practitioners. Kathleen did extensive research beginning in 2001, for Lubbock Urology Clinic, L.L.P. regarding women's pelvic floor health issues and treatment modalities in the area of female incontinence. She is happily married to Adrian Gutierrez and currently has two amazing children and two loving Labs. Her favorite thing to do is spend time with her family and friends. She is proud to be a part of such an amazing team of staff and physicians here at Lubbock Urology!

Kourtney Howell

Kourtney Howell is a native West Texan; she grew up in the Levelland - Whitharral communities and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Texas Tech University. While obtaining her first Bachelor's degree she worked alongside Dr. Carl Britton and Dr. Scott Spore as their surgery scheduler over 20 years ago. Kourtney went on to pursue another Bachelor's degree in Nursing from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center this was achieved in 2008. She worked as an RN in the operating room for several years before deciding to go back to school to get her Master's degree. In 2013, she graduated from West Texas A&M University with a Master's of Science in Nursing as a Family Nurse Practitioner. She has spent the past 9 years in primary care before joining Lubbock Urology Clinic in August of 2022. Kourtney is board certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. She is also an active member of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. Kourtney has a special interest in female pelvic pain, interstitial cystitis, chronic UTIs and neuromodulation for bladder and bowel incontinence. Kourtney also sees patients for weight loss. Kourtney and her husband, Sean, have lived several places including Alaska and Washington; but are happy to be back home close to their daughter, son-in-law and two grandchildren. They still love to travel, especially to Nashville to see their son, amongst other places. Besides traveling they both love sports and Texas Tech.
