Martin County is located in northeastern North Carolina about 80 miles from the Atlantic Ocean. Formed in 1774 from part of southeastern Halifax County and the western part of Tyrrell County, the County is named for Josiah Martin (the last royal governor of North Carolina)... We are located along future I-87 (currently the intersection of Interstate Quality US 64 and US 17) with rail and barge availability. The rural county between two metro areas, Greenville and Rocky Mount, we have the best of both worlds - small town friendly and uncongested, with access to city amenities. We are also halfway between the Research Triangle area of NC and the Hampton Roads area of VA - two of the Mid-Atlantic's most prominent assets, only a little over an hour each way. Our manufacturing workforce has a very strong work ethic - large enough for any size operation, with over 500,000 population within a 50 mile radius. Nearby East Carolina University and local community colleges provide a student..
