Dr. Elise Brown

Dr. Elise Brown believes every congregation has a mission and every community needs a powerful and progressive faith witness in it. Her passions and skills include helping congregations and organizations create ministry plans that work, and then working the plans to produce abundance and fruitfulness. Having worked in diverse communities throughout her 20 years in ministry, she understands the factors needed to move congregations toward greater, more authentic, diversity and mission impact. Dr. Brown was born and raised in Iowa and did her undergraduate work at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. She continued her education at Union Theological Seminary in New York City, earning a Master of Divinity degree, and at the Lutheran School of Theology in Chicago, earning a Master of Theology in Ethics. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from The Graduate Center-City University of New York in 2014 and is on the faculty of Lehman College in the Bronx, NY. She is an ordained clergyperson of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and rostered in the Metropolitan New York Synod.

Dr. Julie Faith Parker

is a Visiting Scholar at Union Theological Seminary (NYC). She was awarded the Ph.D. with distinction in Old Testament/Hebrew Bible from Yale University. Dr. Parker also holds degrees from Yale Divinity School, Union Theological Seminary, and Hamilton College. She taught as a professor of biblical studies at General Theological Seminary and Trinity Lutheran Seminary, and has also taught at Yale Divinity School, Fordham University, Colby College, and New York Theological Seminary, where her students were incarcerated in Sing Sing Prison. Dr. Parker is ordained in the United Methodist Church and has worked full-time in both congregational and campus ministry. Dr. Parker's research focuses on feminist and childist biblical interpretation, as well as ancient Near Eastern languages and cultures. She has published many academic articles and written or edited eight books, including Valuable and Vulnerable: Children in the Hebrew Bible, My So-Called Biblical Life, and most recently, Eve Isn't Evil: Feminist Readings of the Bible to Upend Our Assumptions. She is married to the Rev. Dr. Bill Crawford, and they are the proud parents of two grown children, Graham and Mari.

Dr. Michael B. Brown

Dr. Michael B. Brown was the Senior Minister of Marble Collegiate Church from February 2009 to April 2018. Dedicated to Marble's legacy of acceptance and outreach, Dr. Brown expanded the church's ministry worldwide via interactive technology through live streaming Worship, his TalkBack sessions and online Small Groups. He is the recipient of both the Circuit Rider Certificate of Merit from The United Methodist Church and the John L. Borchert Award for Christian Communications and has served as preacher for The Protestant Hour and Day 1 radio programs. As Senior Minister of Marble, Dr. Brown has been featured on Faith-based Holiday specials on NBC, CBS, and PBS. Dr. Brown is the author of seven books and a contributing author to eleven others. He has been included in the "Great American Preachers" book series and in 2012 was a consultant for the Broadway show Grace. His latest book is A Five-Mile Walk. He is also a regular contributor to Thrive Global and Huff Post. He has taught at The University of North Carolina-Asheville, New Testament at High Point University, and Congregational Change at Wake Forest University Divinity School. A frequent lecturer, preacher and motivational speaker, addressing both religious and secular groups, Dr. Brown uses humor and anecdotes to describe a philosophy of life assured to bring meaning, joy, and hope to those who practice it.

Dr. Michael Bos

Dr. Michael Bos is a pastor, author, interfaith proponent, family guy, and adventure seeker. He also serves as chaplain of the Collegiate School, where he teaches Islam. He has written two books with co-author, Dr. William Sachs: A Church Beyond Belief: The Search for Belonging and the Religious Future and Fragmented Lives: Finding Faith in an Age of Uncertainty. Dr. Bos was raised in West Michigan, received his B.S. in psychology from Grand Valley State University, M.Div. from Western Theological Seminary, did post-graduate work at the Free University (the Netherlands) in Hebrew Scripture and the theology of religions, and doctoral work at the University of Exeter (U.K.) on Islam and religious pluralism. He recently completed his Doctor of Ministry at Duke University Divinity School with a focus on leadership in the Christian tradition. Early in his career, he was counseled that his "need for adventure may be too high for a traditional pastoral role," and this propelled him to pursue new positions. He established an interfaith center in the Arabian Peninsula, and developed programs with institutions such as Princeton Theological Seminary, the Center for Interfaith Reconciliation, and the U.S. State Department. Working with the U.S. Embassy and government of Oman, he helped establish a first of its kind program on religious diplomacy in the Middle East for the top chaplains in the U.S. armed services. For his work in bringing together Christians, Muslims, and Hindus in Oman to aid low-income workers, he received the U.S. Ambassador's Award for Community Service.

Dr. Norman Vincent Peale

Norman Vincent Peale was the pastor of Marble Collegiate Church for 52 years and one of the most influential religious figures of the 20th Century. The author of 46 books, including the all-time inspirational best-seller, The Power of Positive Thinking. With Marble Church as a base, Dr. Peale launched far-reaching innovations in the decades of the 1930s, 40s, and 50s. He was a dynamic motivational speaker on countless platforms, the co-publisher of the world's leading inspirational magazine, Guideposts, and the co-founder of the first school for pastoral psychology, The Institutes of Religion and Health. Dr. Peale recognized the powerful impact of mass media and in 1935 launched a weekly radio broadcast, "The Art of Living," which was to continue for a record-setting 54 years. His down-to-earth message of optimism, courage, and faith in God's love for the individual has helped countless millions find confidence and inner peace. Dr. Peale spoke to an average of 100 groups a year, until the age of 93, and he was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by Ronald Reagan. He died at his home in Pawling, NY, on Christmas Eve, 1993. Dr. Peale's wife, Ruth Stafford Peale, passed away in February 2008.

Michael T. C. Hey

has established himself as a reputable concert organist in the U.S. and abroad. In 2016, he was recognized as one of the top "20 Under 30" organists by The Diapason magazine. Hey performs solo and collaboratively with top American orchestras, as well as with his wife violinist Christiana Liberis in the Hey-Liberis duo. Michael served as Associate Director of Music and Organist of Saint Patrick's Cathedral in New York City from 2015 to 2023, where one of his first major tasks was to perform for the first U.S. visit of Pope Francis. Prior to St. Patrick's, Michael served for five years as Assistant Organist at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church. In 2017, Michael received first prize in the First Shanghai Conservatory of Music International Organ Competition and released his premiere solo CD recording Michael T. C. Hey plays the Great Organ of Saint Patrick's Cathedral in New York by the JAV recording label. is an ordained pastor in the Reformed Church in America who believes that God's revelation as Jesus Christ was the ultimate call to us to be kind to each other and to let this drive our daily activities and interactions. She is also the mother of Kelsanah Wade and an immigrant who was born on the island of Montserrat, a British colony in the West Indies.
