Henry Flagler purchased the Jacksonville, St. Augustine and Halifax River Railway in his efforts to build a railroad to connect the entire east coast of Florida. Jay Stacy is a native Floridian with over 30 years of public service in the field of Information Technology. He has performed in numerous roles throughout his career including Application Development (from mainframes to iPhones), Systems Administration (Unix, Linux, Windows), Database Administration (Oracle, Informix, and SQL Server), Data Center Management, and Electronics Engineering designing circuit boards and firmware for Internet of Things (IoT) devices.
He has been in a leadership role for over 20 years as Director and Deputy Director of Information Technology and as Division Head of Infrastructure and Operations. Jay has a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Florida Atlantic University and is a Certified Public Technology Manager (CPTM) and holds an ITIL V4 Certification in IT Service Management.
Before entering IT Jay was a professional musician. His greatest inspiration was his father who was totally blind but possessed an abundance of charisma and musical talent which enabled him to make a living as an entertainer, eventually becoming a local celebrity in South Florida performing in nightclubs, "cutting" records, and having his act regularly featured live on the radio.
John Sundy was elected mayor. And Among eleven candidates nominated, the voters selected five aldermen by majority vote: Thomas M. McCrae, Dr. John R. Cason Jr., J. W. Acton, John S. Wuepper, and Heliodore J. Wackerman. George Green, an African American from Florida's panhandle, just missed making the cut.

William S. Linton arrived in the area from Michigan with David Swinton and Major Nathan Boynton. Congressman Linton bought tracts of land from Henry Flagler's Model Land Company, the Gleason's and others. The following year Congressman Linton returned with a group of almost a dozen people, including civil engineer E. Burslem Thompson and named the town Linton. And the first school, known as #4 Colored was established at what is now NW 5th and Atlantic.
