OKOLONA FIRE

The Okolona Fire District is responsible Fire and EMS coverage for approximately 33 square miles of Jefferson County. The Okolona Fire Department District includes neighborhoods and businesses in the area of I-65 from the Watterson Expressway to the Bullitt County line. We operate out of three stations that provide the primary Fire and Emergency Medical Service response coverage to the citizens of the taxing district. In our District, we service a variety of residential homes, as well as interstate roads including I-65 and the Gene Snyder Freeway. We also service commercial businesses including Ford Louisville Assembly Plant (LAP), United Parcel Service (UPS) and General Electric (GE)... We plan to increase staffing to comply with the National Fire Protection Association 1710's recommended staffing requirements by having 16 firefighters assigned to a 24-hour shift.
