REDEEMER

We are located in the west side of the city at the junction of Pearl Street and Fifth Street. Redeemer church is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and belongs to the Lower Susquehanna Synod. The word "church" originates from the word kyrike and means "belonging to the Lord." This belief that we belong to the Lord under-girds and guides the mission and ministry of our congregation. This God to whom we belong is a relational Deity and, as such, we see ourselves blessedly relating to the God who first comes to us and will "never leave us or forsake us" (Heb. 13:5). We also relate to the peoples and world around us... Our ministry at Redeemer is indeed relational. We come together in worship services to receive God's gracious presence in word and sacraments, as we thank and praise God for blessings received and pray for God's ongoing guidance in our lives.
