RALEIGH TENNIS ASSOCIATION - Key Persons

Alejandro Pascacio

Alejandro Pascacio started playing tennis in clinics at his social club in Mexico City when he was just 9 years old. Like many of us, he immediately fell in love with the sport. One year later, his parents sent Alejandro to a tennis academy in Mexico City that was small but considered the best. Under the tutelage of the coaches there, his game skyrocketed and he started playing national tournaments when he was 11 years old. Alejandro was ranked in the top 30 players during his junior years in Mexico, which led him to be offered scholarships for both high school and college. After college, when in his 30s, Alejandro played some ITF Pro tournaments and then he started playing ITF Seniors (35+). In 2017, he reached the world ranking #5 in Mixed Doubles, #117 in doubles, and #204 in singles. Way to go, Alejandro! But he's not just good at tennis! In 2016, Alejandro started playing professional Beach Tennis. By 2018, he had achieved a world ranking of #526 and #2 in Mexico. Impressive! After Alejandro graduated from college, he started working for transnational companies in the food and beverages industry like Costco, Nestle, Pepsi, and today for Bia, a group that carries Latinamerican products throughout the continent. In 2013, Alejandro decided to give back to the tennis community by founding his own tennis academy, similar to the one that took him to play competitive tennis in his early years. 360 Tennis Academy, in Cancun, Mexico, has more than 100 students participating today and has had more than 400 total! In his free time, Alejandro teaches tennis in Raleigh while also maintaining his position as the Academy's founder and working at Bia as the East Coast Manager in the U.S.

Beth Beam

Job Titles:
  • RTA past President
Beth Beam, RTA Past President and current Sr. Manager at DXC Technology, started playing tennis at age 6. Her grandfather, Frank Love, 2013 NC Tennis Hall of Fame Inductee, was an avid tennis enthusiast who enabled Beth to start playing by taking her to camps at Olde Providence Swim & Racquet Club in Charlotte, NC. It was at those camps that Beth fell in love with tennis. From then on, she was hooked. Beth was an active junior player; playing junior tennis tournaments in both North Carolina and South Carolina and then on the UNC-Chapel Hill club team in college. Although Beth took a 12-year break from tennis to raise her children, she's been back on the court since 2000 and is an active league player. Her tennis achievements are vast and include 2003 NC Fall Combo League Finalist, among many others. Beth got involved with the RTA when former RTA Community Coordinator, Susan Flanagan, encouraged her to apply for the board. And we're so glad she did! In 2015, Beth was nominated by Raleigh Parks & Rec for the 2015 Fred Fletcher Outstanding Volunteer award. Beth was President of the RTA when we won the first-ever USTA North Carolina Community Tennis Association of the Year Award. Way to go, Beth! In addition to working with the RTA, Beth spent 6 years as a member of the NC Tennis Board of Directors and 4 years on the Board of Directors Management Committee. She has also been fortunate enough to have been selected to serve on committees at the USTA Southern Section level for the last 6 years and at the USTA National level for the last two. Congrats on your achievements, Beth! "Success is a journey, not a destination" is Beth's tennis philosophy. She still feels strongly that you can never rest on your laurels, you need to continuously improve and reinvent yourself. If you don't, you don't stand a chance on the court or in life to succeed! We agree!
