Our community is grieving as we watch the tragedy of the war between Israel and Hamas, triggered by Hamas' brutal attack on October 7th... Our members wrote the most powerful prayers in our siddur. At Sha'ar Zahav, such inspiration is the result of a community doing what we never thought possible... Founded in 1977 and rooted in our history as San Francisco's gay and lesbian synagogue, we offer the warmth and comfort of chosen family. To that end, we embrace a diversity of individuals of all sexualities, genders, races and abilities. We welcome a diversity of families, including single members, interfaith, single-parent, and multicultural families.
