E.N. Swett is located in the heart of town. Diversity is our strength.
E.N. Swett serves kindergarten and preschool only. We have about 185 children in preschool and 92 children in kindergarten.
The selection of a preschool is one of the most important decisions a parent will make. South Sioux City has a great preschool program! E.N. Swett home of the CARDINAL PRESCHOOL offers one of the finest early childhood experiences.
E.N. Swett Elementary School, named after Erman Nathan Swett who served as the South Sioux City Superintendent of schools from 1921 through 1955. Erman Nathan Swett was always dressed in his U.S. Army military uniform. He was often called by his nickname, E.N.
Mr. Swett was born August 19, 1890 in Ainsworth Nebraska. He graduated from Peru State College in Peru, Nebraska. He later received his B.A. from Nebraska Wesleyan in Lincoln and his Master's Degree from the University of Minnesota. He entered the U.S. Army in 1918 and was discharged in 1919. He served as Superintendent of Schools in Grafton and Homer, Nebraska before coming to South Sioux City.
He and his wife, Bess, moved to Lincoln in 1978 to be closer to their only son Robert. Erman Nathan Swett passed away in May of 1980.
