The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association is a voluntary, nonprofit, self-supported organization of secondary schools, conceived and led by school people (teachers, principals, superintendents) for the purpose of stimulating and regulating the athletic relations of the secondary schools in Tennessee. Recognizing that the primary objective of all secondary schools is to educate youth, the TSSAA aims to coordinate the athletic and scholastic programs... TSSAA is an independent organization governed and operated by its member school principals. The organization is not owned by any institution or government entity. Instead, its leadership and operations are overseen by a board of member school administrators and an executive staff that represent the interests of the member schools. Member schools have created TSSAA to ensure that interscholastic sports serve as a vehicle for advancing education, inspiring academic achievement, and strengthening social welfare among youth.....
