Christopher G. Caine

Christopher G. Caine is President of the Center for Global Enterprise, a New York based non-profit organization dedicated to the study of the contemporary corporation in the era of global economic integration. He is also President & CEO of Mercator XXI, LLC (www.mercatorxxi.com), a professional services firm helping clients engage the global economy. Mr. Caine also served as Director, Human Resources and Environmental Policy for IBM, responsible for public policy issues such as health-care reform, labor, personnel, health and safety, environment, and energy. Prior to that, he was Manager of Federal Government Relations and was Regional Manager of the company's state government relations programs. Mr. Caine serves as a senior adviser for technology and public policy to the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). He is a Fellow of the International Academy of Management. He is on the boards of the following organizations: The Information Technology and Innovation Foundation, The Economic Club of Washington DC, The Institute for Education, The Ambassador Theater, and BrainFood.

D. Seetharam

David J. Kappos

David J. Kappos is a partner at Cravath. He is widely recognized as one of the world's foremost leaders in the field of intellectual property, including intellectual property management and strategy, the development of global intellectual property norms, laws and practices as well as commercialization and enforcement of innovation-based assets. Mr. Kappos supports the Firm's clients with a wide range of their most complex intellectual property issues. From August 2009 to January 2013, Mr. Kappos served as Under Secretary of Commerce and Director of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). In that role, he advised the President, Secretary of Commerce and the Administration on intellectual property policy matters. As Director of the USPTO, he led the Agency in dramatically reengineering its entire management and operational systems as well as its engagement with the global innovation community. He was instrumental in achieving the greatest legislative reform of the U.S. patent system in generations through passage and implementation of the Leahy-Smith America Invents Act, signed into law by the President in September 2011. Prior to leading the USPTO, Mr. Kappos held several executive posts in the legal department of IBM, the world's largest patent holder. From 2003 to 2009, he served as the company's Vice President and Assistant General Counsel for Intellectual Property. In that capacity, he managed global intellectual property activities for IBM, including all aspects of patent, trademark, copyright and trade secret protection. Mr. Kappos joined IBM as a development engineer. During his more than 25 years at IBM, he served in a variety of roles including litigation counsel and Asia Pacific IP counsel, based in Tokyo, Japan, where he led all aspects of intellectual property protection, including licensing, transactions support and mergers and acquisitions activity for the Asia/Pacific region. Mr. Kappos has received numerous recognitions, including induction into the Intellectual Property Hall of Fame by Intellectual Asset Management Magazine, being named one of the 50 most influential people in intellectual property by Managing IP, and being named intellectual property professional of the year by the Intellectual Property Owners Association in 2011.

David Ogilvy - Founder

Shelly has been working, as she would say it, "In the business I love," for more than four decades, almost all of that time at Ogilvy & Mather. Shelly rose through the ranks of Ogilvy & Mather assuming positions of increasing responsibility in the management of the company, including president of O&M Direct North America, Ogilvy & Mather New York and Ogilvy & Mather North America. She was named worldwide CEO of Ogilvy & Mather in 1996 and Chairman in 1997. She became Chairman Emeritus in July 2012. Shelly started at Ogilvy at a time when the agency's legendary founder David Ogilvy still walked the halls, and personally preached that the purpose of advertising was to build great brands. Under Shelly's leadership, that essential mission has remained the centerpiece of the company's philosophy, extending across regions and marketing disciplines, and attracting some of the world's largest and most respected brands including American Express, BP, Coca-Cola, IBM and Unilever among many others. Shelly has been a frequent industry honoree. Advertising Women of New York selected Shelly as its Woman of the Year in 1994. She was honored by Women in Communications with their Matrix Award in 1995, was named Business Woman of the Year by the New York City Partnership in 1996, and Woman of the Year in 2002 by the Direct Marketing Association (DMA). She has appeared numerous times in Fortune magazine's annual ranking of America's 50 Most Powerful Women in Business. Shelly was the first woman to receive Columbia Business School's Distinguished Leader in Business Award as well as the Advertising Educational Foundation's (AEF) Lifetime Achievement Award. She was inducted into the American Advertising Federation Hall of Fame in 2013 and is also a member of the DMA's Hall of Fame. Shelly serves on the boards of several corporate, philanthropic and academic institutions: The Blackstone Group, FINRA, General Electric, Merck, New York Presbyterian Hospital, Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy, World Wildlife Fund, Partnership for New York City, Lincoln Center, and the Board of Overseers of Columbia Business School, where she received her MBA in 1970. David W. Beier

David Beier, JD is a Managing Director of Bay City Capital and has been with the firm since 2013. He is a globally recognized leader in health care policy, pricing, intellectual property, government affairs, regulatory affairs, health care economics, and product commercialization. In addition, having spent two decades as part of the senior management teams for Amgen and Genentech, the two largest biotechnology companies in the world, he contributes invaluable perspective regarding strategy for entrepreneurial biotechs, the needs of potential acquirers, and the global health care industry in general. Mr. Beier served in the White House as the Chief Domestic Policy Advisor to Vice President Al Gore during the Clinton Administration. He has served as an appointee of President Clinton on his Advisory Committee for Trade Policy and Negotiations, on the Institute of Medicine panel on the Future of Health and Human Services, and as an advisor to the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology. Mr. Beier was also formerly a partner in international law firm Hogan and Hartson and was formerly Counsel to the US House of Representatives Committee on the Judiciary. He has testified before Congress and the Federal Trade Commission, has written numerous law review articles and technical legal works, is regularly invited to author expert OpEds on health care, and has contributed to books on topics ranging from intellectual property, trade, privacy and justice issues. He currently serves as an appointee of Governor Brown on the California State Government Organization and the Economy Commission, as a Senior Fellow of the Center for Global Enterprise, and teaches as an Adjunct Lecturer at the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. Dr. David Kurz

George Bailey

He is also the Executive Professor of Digital Innovation and Management at Pepperdine University and the Chairman of the Jackson Hole Ocean Sailing Team; a not-for-profit that teaches kids how to sail and compete on the water and in life. George was the CEO of DIVA Networks, an Internet applications development firm. Prior to that, George was the acting CEO of Sony's educational solution called "Tenobo" and was based in Tokyo as Sony's Chief Transformation Officer reporting to the Chairman and CEO Sir Howard Stringer. Before Sony, George was a member of the senior leadership team of IBM, running the global semiconductor business, parts of Sales and Distribution and Consulting. Before IBM, George led the global PriceWaterhouse Strategy Change business and was a member of the Chairman's office.

Governor Warsh

Governor Warsh served as a member of the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System from 2006 until 2011. Warsh served as the Federal Reserve's representative to the Group of Twenty (G-20) and as the Board's emissary to the emerging and advanced economies in Asia. In addition, he was Administrative Governor, managing and overseeing the Board's operations, personnel, and financial performance.

Ira Sager

Mr. Sager has held several senior editorial roles in 21 years with Bloomberg Businessweek. Recently, he was Director of Special Projects. In that position, he developed strategy and content for editorial projects, realigned coverage in several areas and helped launch Bloomberg Businessweek's award-winning iPad app. He was a member of the editorial team that redesigned and repositioned Businessweek online, launched the publication's first blogs and worked extensively with third-party content providers. He also served as Managing Editor of eBiz, a monthly supplement to Businessweek that chronicled the dot-com era. He has written and edited numerous cover stories, features and news articles on all aspects of the computer industry. Mr. Sager has extensive experience with digital media and knowledge of the technology, management consulting and education industries. He has a B.A. in English from Baruch College, City University of New York.

Jerry Yang

Entrepreneur Jerry Yang co-founded Yahoo! Inc. in 1995 and served on the Board of Directors and as a key member of the executive management team until January 2012. While at Yahoo he led a number of initiatives, including two of the biggest investments in the internet: Yahoo Japan and Alibaba Group. Yang holds B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Stanford University. He is widely recognized as a visionary and pioneer in the internet technology sector, and was named one of the top 100 innovators in the world under the age of 35 by the MIT Technology Review in 1999. Mr. Yang served as a director of Yahoo! Japan Corporation (TSE:4689) and Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. until January 2012; and a director of Cisco Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSCO) from July 2000 to November 2012. Yang currently works with and invests in technology entrepreneurs through AME Cloud Ventures, his innovation investment firm. Jim Breyer

Jim is the Founder and CEO of Breyer Capital, a global venture capital firm based in Menlo Park, CA. As a lead investor and/or board member, Jim has assisted teams at over a dozen companies complete IPOs. Prior to Breyer Capital, Jim began his career at Accel, where he served as Managing Partner for over a decade and as President and CEO of Accel Management for 14 years. Jon Iwata is Executive Fellow at Yale School of Management, an appointment he received upon his retirement from IBM in 2018, capping a 35-year career with the company. In 2020 he was also appointed inaugural Ogilvy Fellow at the Yale Center for Customer Insights; the fellowship was established to understand how business leadership is evolving in the era of stakeholder capitalism. Jon reported to three IBM CEOs during two decades of significant transformation of the information technology industry, global business and geopolitics. As IBM Senior Vice President of Marketing and Communications, Jon led the company's global marketing, communications and corporate citizenship organization for a decade. He was chairman of IBM's corporate strategy committee for three years. As IBM's marketing leader, Jon led the digital transformation of his organization. He developed strategies that substantially grew the value of the IBM brand and repositioned the company at key inflection points: e-business, when the Internet was emergent; Smarter Planet, which described how all systems - from power grids and supply chains to healthcare and cities - would be transformed by the phenomenon of data; and IBM Watson, which heralded the era of artificial intelligence. Kathy Colucci

Kathy Colucci is a Digital Supply Chain Institute Fellow. Previously, as Vice President for IBM Sales Transformation, Kathy was the senior IBM leader responsible for global transformation of IBM's sales processes, supporting 35,000 sellers worldwide. She improved seller productivity by $100+ million annually, by streamlining the pricing, contracting, collaboration, and forecasting processes, and by freeing seller time spent in pre-sales support using center-based "Deal Hub" resources. Her role included business ownership for IBM's CRM tools, sales dashboards, business analytics, and client master data. Kathy served as CFO for IBM's supply chain and services delivery organizations, achieving 10-15% productivity annually across $35 billion of spending for IBM's global Supply Chain. As Program Executive, Kathy led the initial work to set up IBM's Globally Integrated Enterprise (GIE) shared services, which optimized IBM's support functions for expertise, scale and velocity. Ms. Colucci served on IBM's Growth & Transformation Team, a forum for IBM's top leaders, from 2004 - 2016. She was an executive leader for IBM's CEO-sponsored Client Experience Team, a founding member of the IBM Chile Global Enablement Team, a senior advisor to IBM's LGBTQ Diversity Council, and to the IBM Millennial Corp. Kathy holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Pittsburgh and a B.A. from St. Bonaventure University. Matias Casas

Michael Spence

Nobel Laureate Michael Spence is a world authority on growth in developing countries and on the convergence between advanced and developing economies. He is a professor of economics at the Stern School of Business at New York University, Professor Emeritus of Management in the Graduate School of Business at Stanford University, a Senior Fellow of the Hoover Institution and a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations. Monica Consiglio is Vice President of Mercator XXI, LLC. In this role she works directly with the President to help drive Mercator XXI's business priorities and operations. Prior to joining Mercator XXI, Ms. Consiglio spent 10 years with the IBM Company. At IBM, she held a variety of positions within the HR organization. Her experience encompasses Human Resources Data Collection, Staffing Services and Recruiting. Most recently, she spent over six years in the Governmental Programs organization. She was responsible for financial, security, and managerial control processes in the area of Governmental Programs. She worked with team members in 35 countries to ensure all human resource issues were handled appropriately and according to individual country policy. Samuel J. Palmisano is the Chairman of the Center for Global Enterprise, a private, nonprofit, nonpartisan research institution devoted to the study of the contemporary corporation, the management science of the globally integrated enterprise (GIE), global economic trends, and their impact on society. The CGE was established in 2013 to help educate societal stakeholders - as well as leaders from the private sector, public sector, and academia - on the globally integrated economy and its promise for a better future. From January 1, 2003, through December 31, 2011, Samuel J. Palmisano was chairman, president and chief executive officer of IBM. He was chairman of the Board from January through September 2012 and served as a senior adviser to IBM until his retirement on December 1, 2012. Under his leadership, IBM achieved record financial performance, transformed itself into a globally integrated enterprise and introduced its Smarter Planet agenda. Mr. Palmisano began his career with IBM in 1973 in Baltimore, Maryland. In a 39-year career with the company, he held leadership positions that included senior vice president and group executive of the Personal Systems Group, senior vice president and group executive of IBM Global Services, senior vice president and group executive of Enterprise Systems and president and chief operating officer. Mr. Palmisano is a graduate of The Johns Hopkins University. Among his many business accomplishments, Mr. Palmisano was awarded an Honorary Degree of Doctor of Humane Letters from Johns Hopkins University in 2012 and from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in 2005. In 2006, he was awarded an Honorary Fellowship from the London Business School. Mr. Palmisano has received a number of business awards, including the Atlantic Council's Distinguished Business Leadership Award in 2009 and the inaugural Deming Cup, presented in 2010 by the W. Edwards Deming Center for Quality, Productivity and Competitiveness at Columbia Business School. In 2013 Mr. Palmisano was awarded the French Legion of Honor for his many accomplishments during his successful career at IBM, as well as for his personal commitment to French-American friendship. Shanker Annaswamy

Shanker Annaswamy was the former Managing Director of IBM India Private Limited from 2004-12. He also served as the Senior Advisor- India Enterprise from Jan 2013 until September 2014. He was responsible for all of IBM's Sales, Marketing, Services and Global Delivery Operations in the India/South Asia region, including operations in Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka. Before joining IBM, Shanker was the President and Chief Executive Officer for GE Medical Systems, South Asia and the Managing Director of Wipro-GE Medical Systems. He started his career with Philips Medical Systems. He was the member of NASSCOM's Executive Council from 2004 to 2008, Chairman of the CII National Committee of IP owners and co-chaired the Confederation of Indian Industry's National Innovation Mission in 2007. In 2009, he was nominated to the Prime Minister's Advisory Group on Science and Technology. He was also on the National Executive Board of Amcham and on the National Executive Committee of FICCI. Sherif Kamel

Kamel is the former founding dean of the school of business at the American University in Cairo. Before joining AUC, he was director of the Regional IT Institute (1992-2001). Prior to that, he managed the training department of the Cabinet of Egypt Information and Decision Support Center (1989-1992). Kamel holds a PhD in information systems from London School of Economics and Political Science, an MBA and a BA in business administration from the American University in Cairo. His research and teaching interests include management of information technology, information technology transfer to developing nations, organizational transformation, electronic business, decision support systems and entrepreneurship. His work is published in IS and management journals and books. He is the editor of three books; E-strategies for technological diffusion and adoption: national ICT approaches for socioeconomic development (2010), Electronic business in developing countries: challenges and opportunities (2005) and Managing globally with information technology (2003). He serves as the associate editor of the Journal of IT for Development and the Journal of Cases on Information Technology. Kamel is an Eisenhower Fellow and the Center for Global Enterprise Fellow. He is a member of the AACSB International Middle East Advisory Council; Egypt-US Business Council and board member of Education for Employment Egypt. Previously, he was a board member of the Egyptian American Enterprise Fund, executive vice president of the American Chamber of Commerce and member in the World Bank Knowledge Advisory Commission. He was a founding member of the Internet Society of Egypt. He was chairman of the Chevening Association in Egypt and board member of the Association of African Business Schools.
