Annalise Asen

Annalise Asen is our First/Second Grade teacher. Annalise recently graduated from Moody Bible Institute with her degrees in Elementary Education and Biblical Theology. She has been working with children for 11 years. Whether it be in ministry, Sunday school, or the classroom, she always seized the opportunity to teach the next generation with the passion gifted to her by the Lord. Ms. Asen says, "I am thrilled to have this opportunity at Zion Lutheran School, to lead her students with the same grace and wisdom her teachers afforded her!" Ms. Asen will also be teaching our P.E. Special this year.

Donna Kus

Miss Donna has been teaching preschool at Zion for 18 years. She began at Zion teaching the 3 & 4 year old classes and has been teaching PreK for 5 years. Miss Donna earned her degree at Northeastern Illinois University. Miss Donna loves the career path she chose. "I love working with young children because they learn so much so quickly. My philosophy is to have a structured learning environment with opportunities for play-based learning activities as well." Miss Donna has lived in McHenry over 30 years and enjoys spending time with her family.

Rev. Mark Buetow

  • Pastor / School Director
The Reverend Mark Buetow serves as the Pastor and School Administrator for Zion Lutheran Church and School. He also served Higher Things (a Lutheran Youth organization) for nine years as Internet Services Executive and then Media and Deputy Executive. He has taught and written extensively for Higher Things. Pastor Buetow is a graduate of Purdue University and Concordia Seminary in St. Louis. He has served parishes in New Orleans, Louisiana and Du Quoin, Illinois. He and his wife, Susan, have been married 24 years and have three daughters. In his free time, Pastor Buetow enjoys tabletop (strategy, war, card) gaming.
