Barbara Byster brings over 15 years of full cycle experience in retained executive search. She is highly skilled at managing client relationships as well as identifying, sourcing, and qualifying candidates to determine if they meet client expectations.
Barbara has experience in many industries including consumer products, manufacturing, industrial, specialty chemicals, health care, insurance, financial services and family office. She has a track record of success recruiting C-level executives and divisional presidents as well as key functional reports in sales, risk, finance, human resources, and operations.
Prior to joining Alta Search Group, Barbara was Principal of Byster Associates, LLC, a recruiting firm. Prior to that, she was the Managing Director for the Chicago office at a boutique specialty recruitment firm where she also had responsibility for the New York City office. She has recruited specialized professionals for a range of family office and private estate positions. Barbara managed the office's workload and the clients in two of the primary markets; Chicago and New York.
Before that, she worked at two international retained executive search firms; Heidrick and Struggles and Boyden Global Executive Search where she supported senior partners in various industries.
Barbara began her career working in public and private companies in Accounting. She earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting at the University of Illinois in Chicago, Illinois.

For over 25 years, Ed Davis has been a well-known and highly respected leader in the field of talent acquisition. Ed has been the top staffing executive in multiple industries and companies that include: United Airlines, ConAgra Foods, R.R. Donnelley and Safeguard Business Systems. Throughout his career Ed has successfully recruited hundreds of high caliber executives in diverse industries across multiple functional areas.
In February 2012, Ed founded Alta Search Group, LLC. Over the past three years, the company has filled numerous executive positions for corporations and private equity companies. Simply stated, the company's mission is to help companies recruit high quality executive talent in a highly efficient manner without high cost.
Ed has a B.S. in Human Resources from Roosevelt University and a Master's Degree in Industrial Relations from Loyola University of Chicago.
As a frequent guest speaker at industry and association conferences, Ed has also published numerous articles on staffing in publications like the Journal of Corporate Recruiting Leadership, ERE News, and various recruiting websites.
In 2006, the Employment Management Association of Greater Chicago recognized Ed as "Staffing Professional of the Year." In 2009, the Chicago Association of Minority Recruiters named him "Talent Acquisition Officer of the Year."
