The Department of Commerce was started in the year 1990 as a Research Department with Ph.D as the only course with Finance, Marketing, Accounting,Taxation and Human Resource Management as specialisation. Apart from the core specialization the department is also contributing to the allied activities such as Consumer issues and Skill Development. The Department was headed by the eminent person Dr.M.MANICKAM who was the founder head of the department. With his succession plan, the department has been approved to guide M.Phil scholars in the year 1994. Further, the department marched successfully to equip the PG students and started M.Sc (Finance and Computer Applications) during the year 2001 which was later renamed as M.Com (Finance and Computer Applications) in 2010 with a sanctioned strength of 30...
