FANCYFREEISLAND

Fancy Free is a private island in the Ottawa area. It is located in an area of internationally recognized historical and environmental interest with two UNESCO designations: World Heritage Site and World Biosphere Reserve. Fancy Free is located 1.5 hours by car south of Ottawa and one hour by car north of Kingston. From the USA, it is easily reached from New York State via the Thousand Islands International Bridge... We are renovating Fancy Free's gardens to increase the diversity of native plants on the island. For many decades Fancy Free Island was known for the beautiful peony gardens that ringed it, tended by Aunt Margaret Washburn, who owned it for many years... Fancy Free is a uniquely serene and beautiful private island retreat in Ottawa area - near Portland and Smith's Falls in Eastern Ontario.
