The Association was orginally formed in Melbourne Victoria in 1946 after World War 2 and was named the ex-HMAS SHROPSHIRE Association. In 1949 the South Australian Division of the Association was formed in Adelaide. In 1950 the New South Wales Division of the Association was formed in Sydney followed by Tasmanian Division in 1958.
