Dr Willis graduated summa cum laude from the University of Tennessee in 1998. She earned a PhD in Molecular Physiology and Biophysics from Vanderbilt University. She completed a research postdoctoral fellowship in the lab of Dr David Valle at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine in Maryland and postdoctoral fellowship training in clinical molecular genetics at Baylor College of Medicine in Texas. Dr Willis is a diplomate of the ABMGG, a fellow of the ACMG, and holds a New York State Department of Health Certificate of Qualification in Genetic Testing (molecular). She serves as a technical director in molecular genetics and genomics. Willis is a member of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics. She has authored more than 20 articles and abstracts published in such journals as Genetics in Medicine, American Journal of Human Genetics, Human Mutation, Journal of the American Medical Association, and the New England Journal of Medicine. When not working, Dr Willis enjoys reading, crafting, table top gaming, hiking, and other fitness activities.

Alexandra Arreola

Dr Arreola graduated from the University of California, Davis in 2008 and earned her PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill in 2014. She completed her clinical laboratory training in the Cytogenetics and Molecular Genetic Pathology laboratories at UNC-CH in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Dr Arreola is a diplomate of the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) in Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics, a fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ACMG). Dr Arreola serves as a Genomics Associate Technical Director in the Cytogenetics department at the Center for Molecular Biology & Pathology (CMBP). She is a diplomate of the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG), where she is board certified in Clinical Cytogenetics and Genomics. She has authored several articles and abstracts published in such journals as the American Journal of Medical Genetics Part A, Clinical Cancer Research, and PLoS One. Andrea Penton

Dr Penton graduated from the University of California at Berkeley with a bachelor's degree in genetics. Dr Penton is certified in clinical cytogenetics by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics and is a fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics. She earned a PhD in oncology from the University of Wisconsin, Madison and did postdoctoral research at Stanford University. She was a research associate and clinical cytogenetics fellow in the Department of Pathology at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Dr Penton serves as a technical director at the Center for Molecular Biology and Pathology located within Research Triangle Park in North Carolina. She is passionate about providing accurate and timely genetic testing results to patients. In addition, she is fascinated by genetic mechanisms and aneuploidy correction during human development. When not working, Dr Penton enjoys gardening, hiking, and music.

André Valcour

Dr Valcour earned an MBA from Elon University. He graduated with distinction and was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma business and the Phi Kappa Phi academic honor societies. Dr Valcour was also presented with the Richard H. Behrman Award for the Class of 2014, an honor bestowed to the most outstanding graduating MBA student as selected by the faculty of Elon's Business School. Dr Valcour is a diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (DABCC), a fellow of the National Academy of Biochemistry (NACB), and is certified by the New York State Department of Health as a director of clinical chemistry, endocrinology, therapeutic drug monitoring, clinical toxicology, and serologic oncology. Bernice A. Allitto

Bernice Allitto received her Ph.D. in Biology from Brandeis University. She completed an ABMG Fellowship in Clinical Molecular Genetics at Harvard Medical School, and a postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Neurogenetics at Massachusetts General Hospital and Department of Genetics, Harvard Medical School. Currently, Dr Allitto is a Clinical Molecular Geneticist and Laboratory Director at Labcorp in Westborough, MA. She was formerly the Senior Site Director of the Labcorp Laboratory in Westborough, MA.

Chevonne Eversley

Dr Eversley earned her PhD in Genetics and Molecular Biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She completed her postdoctoral training in molecular genetics at Mount Sinai School of Medicine in NY. Dr Eversley holds board certification in molecular genetics from the American Board of Medical Genetics and licensure in molecular genetics from the NY State Department of Health. Dr Eversley is co-discipline director of the molecular genetics, genomic sequencing, and prenatal genomic screening laboratories at the Center for Molecular Biology and Pathology. Denise Cutillo

Ms Cutillo graduated from Juniata College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and English from Juniata College in 1984. While at Juniata College, she was inducted into the Tri Beta Biological Honor Society and was awarded a Juniata Alumni Scholarship. She attended the University of Pittsburgh graduate school of public health and received a master of science degree in Human Genetics/Genetic Counseling in 1986. During her time in graduate school she was awarded the University of Pittsburgh Owens Fellowship and the University of Pittsburgh Public Health Service award. She began her clinical experience at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia and specialized in providing genetic counseling in the reproductive setting to patients with a wide variety of indications including family history of genetic disease and birth defects, abnormal ultrasounds, etc. Ms Cutillo is a diplomate of the American Board of Genetic Counseling, and is licensed as a certified genetic counselor by the Pennsylvania State Department of Health. At Labcorp, she serves as national discipline director of genetic counseling. Ms Cutillo is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors, and the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics. She has authored more than 15 articles and abstracts published in such journals as American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, American Journal of Human Genetics, Prenatal Diagnosis, Genetics and Teratology, American Society of Human Genetics, American College of Medical Genetics, and National Society of Genetic Counselors.

Dorothy M. Adcock

Geraldine McDowell

Hiba Risheg

Dr Risheg graduated with a PhD in Medical Genetics in 2003 from the University of Alabama at Birmingham. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship training in Cytogenetics in 2005 at the Greenwood Genetic Center, Greenwood, South Carolina. Dr Risheg is a Diplomate of the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics with a board certification in Cytogenetics. She has authored or co-authored numerous papers in publications such as the Journal of Clinical Research İn Pediatric Endocrinology, American Journal of Medical Genetics, Nature Genetics, Journal of Medical Genetics, and ClinGen-the Clinical Genome Resource. Dr Risheg joined Labcorp in 2008 and has been the Cytogenetics Technical Director at the cytogenetics laboratory in Seattle, Washington. The cytogenetics lab services the local inpatient hospital as well as regional clients within the Pacific Northwest. Dr Risheg lives in Seattle, Washington. When not working she enjoys cooking, hobby farming, beekeeping, and traveling.

James H. Tepperberg

Joe Kearney

Dr Kearney received his PhD in genetics and molecular biology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2003, where he studied vascular development and tumor neovascularization. During a subsequent post-doctoral fellowship in neurogenetics, Dr Kearney developed a research interest in the genetics of neurodevelopmental disorders. He received his clinical molecular genetics training at the Greenwood Genetic Center and the Fullerton Genetics Center, where his studies focused on developing new genetic tests for the diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorders. From 2010 to 2015, he served as a director of molecular genetics and genomics at the Fullerton Genetics Center in Asheville, NC. Dr Kearney holds board certification in clinical molecular genetics from the American Board of Medical Genetics and is a fellow of the American College of Medical Genetics.

Joseph M. Volpe

Dr Volpe graduated from Duke University in 2008 with PhD in computational biology and bioinformatics, with a concentration in immunology. His research involved developing a software algorithm to decipher the germline origins of human immunoglobulin and T-cell receptors and then using that software to analyze large data sets of human antibodies to understand their diversity. He received the American Association of Immunologists-Huang Foundation Young Investigator Award in 2007 for his work in anti-HIV antibody composition. Upon graduating, Dr Volpe worked as a Medical Science Liaison at Monogram Biosciences where he covered the Southeast and Midwest territories. In early 2016 he became the Director of Scientific Outreach, helping to build the Medical Science Liaison team for Labcorp. In early 2018, Dr Volpe began putting together the pieces of what would become Labcorp's Partners in Clinical Neuroscience program and he is now the National Segment Director for that program. He is an author on seven peer-reviewed articles and eight conference posters. In 2011, he was a Labcorp Chairman's Award winner and was also the Monogram Biosciences MVP awardee. Outside of work, Dr Volpe enjoys cooking Italian food, working out, and playing piano. He also writes and records piano music and has an album on iTunes.

Karen Phillips - CTO

Dr Phillips received a Bachelor of Science in microbiology from the University of Oklahoma, Norman and a master of science in biology from Old Dominion University, Norfolk, Virginia. Dr Phillips earned a PhD from University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine in 1997. She held a Fellowship in Clinical Cytogenetics, University of NC, Chapel Hill 1997-1999 and an Alternative Pathway Fellowship in LGG, Labcorp, CMBP. Dr Phillips holds board certification from ABMGG board certification in Clinical Cytogenetics since 2002 and is ABMGG Board Eligible for Laboratory Genetics and Genomics certification, 2021/2023. She holds NYS Certificates of Qualification in Cytogenetics (2001), Fetal Defect Markers (2010), and Genetic Testing (limited to microarray analysis) (2019). She has several employee appreciation awards and recognitions and has co-authored published articles and numerous annual poster presentations. She is a member of ACMG, AMP, and ASHG. Before joining Labcorp, Dr Phillips was the Associate Director of Cytogenetics at GeneCare Medical Genetics, Chapel Hill, NC (2002-2011). Her areas of expertise or special interests include microarray and chromosome analysis for prenatal, postnatal, and oncology samples; and maternal serum screening, including acetylcholinesterase analysis and NIPS. When not working, Dr Phillips travels between her mountain cabin in Lenoir, NC, and her bed and breakfast on the North Carolina coast. She is also active with the American Red Cross and various animal advocacy groups. She passionately supports many foundations, including Save-the-Children, St Jude's Hospital, Scouting, and her political party. With an avid interest in aviation, she is a small aircraft owner and is working on obtaining a private pilot's license. Katie Rudd

Dr Rudd graduated from the College of William and Mary with Highest Honors in Biology. She worked as a Cytogenetic technologist at Brigham and Women's Hospital before earning a PhD in Genetics from Case Western Reserve University, where she researched human centromeres. Dr Rudd completed a Cytogenetics fellowship at the University of Washington and a Molecular Genetics fellowship split between Emory and Duke Universities. Her postdoctoral fellowship at the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center focused on subtelomere research. Dr Rudd is certified by the American Board of Medical Genetics and Genomics (ABMGG) in Clinical Cytogenetics and Clinical Molecular Genetics. She holds NY State licenses for Cytogenetics, Genetic Testing, and Oncology: Molecular and Cellular Tumor Markers. She was previously the Cytogenetics Training Program Director for the ABMGG training program at Emory University. She current serves on the ABMGG board of directors. Dr Rudd was an Assistant Professor of Genetics and Senior Director of Cytogenetics at Emory University for eight years before joining Labcorp as a Technical Director. She is a member of the American College of Medical Genetics and Genomics and the American Society of Human Genetics. Kelly Y. Chun

Dr Kelly Chun is vice president and scientific director at Labcorp. With over 20 years of protein science and assay development experience, Dr Chun oversees a complex, high-throughput endocrine reference laboratory while leading research and development activities. Since joining Labcorp in 2002, she has developed numerous pivotal endocrine and autoimmune assays for use in both clinical diagnostics and pharmaceutical trials. She is the author of original articles and book chapters with a focus on endocrinology, gastroenterology, and immunogenicity. Dr Chun received her PhD in biochemistry from the Medical College of Wisconsin and completed her post-doctoral fellowship in laboratory medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Marcia Eisenberg

Dr Eisenberg earned a BS in biology, a BA in psychology, and an MS in molecular biology from the State University of New York at Albany. Dr Eisenberg has been a member of the FBI's Technical Working Group on DNA Analysis Methods and she was an appointed member of the National DNA Advisory Board during its lifespan. She has been recognized and honored for her contributions to the advancement of forensic DNA testing. She currently holds certification in Molecular Genetics and Molecular Oncology and previously in Forensic DNA Testing and Paternity testing from the New York State Department of Health. Dr Eisenberg has been involved with the development and validation of hundreds of clinical assays used for patient care during her 25 plus year tenure at Labcorp and its predecessor company Roche Biomedical Laboratories and is currently Labcorp's Diagnostics Chief Scientific Officer and a Sr. Vice President. Dr Eisenberg oversees Research and Development, Science and Technology for the company which includes test development, optimization and automation as well as Licensing and Business Development. She assists in the review of new tests, technologies and platforms and works with partners to transform their IP into viable diagnostic assays.

Melinda B. Nye

Dr Nye is a board-certified medical technologist and a diplomate of the American Board of Medical and Public Health Microbiology. She earned a PhD in microbiology and immunology from Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire, and completed a postdoctoral fellowship in medical and public health microbiology from the University of Rochester Medical Center in New York. Dr Nye is interested in all aspects of the diagnosis of infectious disease, but her primary focus is on molecular detection. Her particular area of expertise is in the diagnosis of sexually transmitted infections. In addition to her other roles at Labcorp, Dr Nye is a discipline director for molecular microbiology. Michalis Konstantinidis

Dr Konstantinidis's work has been recognized with award prizes, including the Society of Assisted Reproductive Technology (SART) Prize Paper [awarded for research abstract presented at the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) Conference, Florida, 2011]. Ruth Heim

Dr Heim graduated from the University of the Witwatersrand, South Africa, with a First Class BSc(Hons) degree and a PhD in human molecular genetics. Dr Heim is a diplomate of the ABMGG, a fellow of the ACMG, and is certified by the New York State Department of Health as a director of genetic testing (molecular) and molecular and cellular tumor markers. She completed postdoctoral fellowship training in clinical molecular genetics at the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill. Dr Heim serves as senior director and national co-discipline director of molecular genetics and genomics. She is a member of the ACMG and the ASHG. She has authored more than 60 articles and abstracts published in such journals as Genetics in Medicine, Nature Genetics, Prenatal Diagnosis, and Clinical Chemistry. Dr Heim raised two boys in Massachusetts and currently lives North Carolina. When not working, Dr Heim enjoys travel, visiting family in Australia, reading fiction especially Sci-Fi, and watching and participating in the performing arts especially dance.

Sabrina Gardner

Dr Gardner graduated from Florida International University in 2007 with a Bachelor of Science in Dietetics and Nutrition and received her PhD from Cornell University in 2012 in Molecular Nutrition, with emphasis on Epigenetics and Epidemiology. From 2012-2014, Dr Gardner was a Postdoctoral Trainee at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, doing research on breast cancer epigenetics. Dr Gardner is a Registered Dietitian (Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, accredited in 2007). At Labcorp, she serves as a Senior Variant Scientist in the Genomics department. Dr Gardner has authored more than 10 articles and abstracts published in such journals as Human Mutation, Genetics in Medicine, Hereditary Cancer in Clinical Practice, BMC Medical Genomics, and Breast Cancer Research and Treatment. She lives in Durham, North Carolina with her husband and kids. When not working, she enjoys crafts such as knitting, crocheting and cross-stitch, as well as spending time with her family.

Stuart Schwartz

Dr Schwartz is board certified in medical genetics, clinical cytogenetics, and clinical molecular genetics. He earned a PhD in medical genetics from Indiana University and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. His major areas of interest include molecular cytogenetics, the delineation and characterization of neocentromeres, phenotype/karyotype correlation in the 9p deletion syndrome, the etiology of structural chromosome abnormalities, the characterization of de novo and complex reciprocal translocations, and high-resolution chromosome methodology. In addition to authoring a number of book chapters, Dr Schwartz has authored more than 160 articles for peer-reviewed journals.

Sydney Strickland

Dr Strickland graduated from Roanoke College in 2011 with summa cum laude distinction and was inducted into Phi Beta Kappa and Alpha Chi academic honor societies. She is a diplomate of the American Board of Clinical Chemistry (ABCC), and holds a certificate of qualification from New York State Department of Health in Biochemical Genetics and Fetal Defect Markers. Dr Strickland earned a PhD in experimental pathology from the University of Virginia and completed postdoctoral fellowship training in clinical chemistry at the University of Virginia Medical Center in 2018. Dr Strickland serves as a national co-discipline director of Biochemical Genetics. She is a member of American Association of Clinical Chemistry (AACC). She has authored more than 8 articles and abstracts published in such journals as Clinical Chemistry, Journal of Applied Laboratory Medicine (JALM), Clinica Chimica Acta. Dr Strickland lives in central North Carolina and is continually chasing a toddler and puppy with her husband. When not working, Dr Strickland enjoys reading and watching sports (football and basketball predominately).

Vivian Weinblatt

Vivian Weinblatt graduated with honors from Cornell University in 1985 and with a degree in Health and Medical Sciences from the University of California, Berkeley in 1987. Vivian is a diplomate of the ABMG and a charter member of ABGC. She served as President of the National Society of Genetic Counselors in 2000-2001. Vivian serves as the Director of Clinical Education for Labcorp and directs the medical science liaison team which is charged with education health care providers and internal staff on genetics and our testing options. She is the chair of the publications committee, supporting the translation of our science to the public domain. Vivian lives in South Jersey, just across the river from Philadelphia. Her interests include bird watching, ballet and theater.

Wenjie Jack Chen

Dr Chen graduated from Fudan University in 2000. He earned a PhD in Genetics from the University of Iowa and completed postdoctoral fellowship training in functional genetics at Harvard Medical School and Mass General Hospital in Massachusetts with Cooley's Anemia Foundation Research Fellowship. Dr Chen serves as senior variant scientist and team lead and was awarded Laboratorian of the Year in 2017. He has authored more than 20 articles and abstracts published in such journals as Blood, Journal of Medical Genetics, Clinical Genetics, Human Mutation, Genetics in Medicine. Dr Chen lives in a suburb close to Boston. When not working, Dr Chen enjoys traveling, gardening and watching Patriots football.
