Gerry has been in practice since 1985 and was the founding partner of a large independent costs practice based in the city of London. Gerry also served on the Counsel for the Association of Law Costs Draftsmen (now the Association of Costs Lawyers) for many years and was also its honourable secretary. Gerry specialises in the preparation of complicated high value Bills of Costs predominately for City based clients and prominent national firms. He is also a qualified Arbitrator (ACIArb) and a skilled negotiator.
Jim's areas of expertise relate to personal injury claims on behalf of both receiving and paying parties, particularly industrial disease cases and multi-party group actions. In respect of the latter, Jim has represented Defendants insurers in a number of high profile matters dealing with the costs of the individual claims and costs of the Steering Committee firms. Jim is also regularly instructed on shipping related matters by solicitors in this jurisdiction and abroad, and by shipping companies and their P&I insurers direct.
J MURPHY provides advice and cost drafting services to a range of clients including the P&I insurance market and independent shipping companies (through their solicitors and also by way of direct instructions), a leading ABS, a claims management company for a multi-national oil company and private clients.
Robert is a Senior Law Costs Draftsman and Consultant with over 30 years experience in all aspects of legal costs having worked for various Law Firms on the South Coast and in Central London, together with a city based firm of Costs Lawyers and on his own account. Valued for his sound and pragmatic approach, Robert is regularly engaged in the preparation of Bills of Costs in all forms of litigation including high value complex clinical negligence actions, personal injury, commercial, Legal Aid and Solicitors Act matters. In addition, Robert has extensive experience in the preparation of Points of Dispute at all levels and provides regular consultancy services to various Insurance Companies regarding claims for costs and is an experienced advocate in both supporting and opposing Bills in the County Court and the SCCO.
