KNOT A BOX

Boxes are made using woods such as Eastern pine, poplar, and cedar, selected for the most knots. Several layers are glued together and clamped, with each layer carefully positioned to get the most out of the grain once the design is cut out... All boxes can be made using poplar - specifically the black heart of the wood when I can find it - they cost $20 more as the wood costs more and being a hardwood requires a bit more elbow grease than the softer pine... Each drawer is coated in a material called flocking. It's the soft non-scratch finish you find in jewelry boxes and comes in several colors.
