MMEA was formed in 1938, when the Minnesota Bandmasters Association expanded to all include all students, music, music classrooms, and music educators... MMEA's strength comes from dedicated music educators who step up to serve their colleagues, students and peers. Over the years, thousands have served on the MMEA board with 42 individuals leading MMEA as President... MMEA believes that music is core to the human experience. We support Minnesota Communities by affirming and further developing aesthetic sensitivity, self-expression, and creativity of music learners. MMEA strives for equality and excellence in music education by honoring and preserving lived experiences through intentional and informed practices. This mission and vision was dutifully passed by the MMEA Board of Directors at the May 2022 board meeting after months of work.
