Danielle Vermaak

Danielle is an expert in the fields of genetics, biochemistry and molecular biology. She obtained her PhD in Biology through a joint program between Johns Hopkins University and the National Institutes of Health. She completed her postdoctoral training at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, WA. She continued to work as a staff scientist at the same institute, where she was integral in obtaining NIH and private funding for a new lab. Her research focused on discovering and understanding intragenetic conflict (e.g. centromeres, chromatin, dosage compensation, etc.). She has published over 20 scientific papers and reviews in high impact journals. Her strengths include communicating scientific ideas to a range of audiences, creative presentation style, and sharp intellect. (link to CV)

Julie Bletz

Julie specializes in genetics, molecular biology and virology. She obtained her PhD in genetics at Stanford University and completed her postdoctoral training at Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center. Her postdoctoral research focused on characterizing rapidly evolving host defense pathways by integrating molecular biology with virology. She is currently a scientific writer for the Institute for Systems Biology in Seattle, WA, where she has been instrumental in obtaining funding from multiple agencies for proteomics and single-cell assay technology. Her strengths include a diverse background, ranging from genomics to proteomics, the ability to distill a clear vision from a complex idea and exceptional organizational skills.
