Bobbi Burson

Ms Bobbi holds a Bachelors of Arts (BA) with a degree in Environmental Sciences from Southern Maine University. She also graduated with credits toward her Masters in Education degree from the C.L.A.S.S. PDS program. She has a certification in Middle Grades Sciences, Middle Grades English, Exceptional Students, as well as Elementary Education K-6. For four years Ms Bobbi worked as the laboratory supervisor for the Marine Lab of Southern Maine studying the effects of using Porphyra yezoensis as a bioremediator for fish farming. Her previous position was as the 7th grade Science/Language Arts educator for Key Largo School. She joined TVM in 2012.

Connie Chapell

Ms. Connie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Special Education/ Mentally Handicapped from Florida State University and a Master of Science in Emotionally Handicapped and Administrative Supervision from Nova Southeastern University. She has a Florida Professional Educators Certificate in Emotionally Handicapped (Grades K-12), Mentally Handicapped (Grades K-12), Elementary Education (Grades K-6), and School Principal (All Levels). She is an active Independent Educational Consultant and certified in Collaborative Problem Solving. Her educational experience as a teacher began in a hospital setting working with autistic, young children. Her experiences include classroom teaching (Pre-School-High School) with students in a variety of settings. Her administrative experiences began as a Principal of a private, accredited therapeutic school, as well as Principal of three accredited private schools. She joined TVM in 2012 and is a member of the school's leadership team.

Frederick Matthews

Frederick Matthews moved to the upper Florida Keys in 2013 from Miami, after purchasing what was originally intended to be a weekend home in Key Largo. When a new acquaintance told him about the quality public school system here, he and his wife Carina did their research, and made the decision to move to the Keys to raise their three children. Prior to moving to the Keys, Frederick had a twenty-year career in the medical device field, working in both Fortune 100 companies and small medical device start-ups. He led sales and market development organizations in the United States, Asia-Pacific, and Latin American regions (he speaks fluent Spanish). He's also owned and managed a small medical device distributorship, which he sold to a division of Johnson & Johnson in 2009. Frederick earned his BA from Westminster College, and MBA from Thunderbird School of Global Management. Today, Frederick is pursuing his long-time interest in real estate development and sales. He is a full time, licensed real estate agent, and he holds a Florida certified residential contractor license. Frederick and Carina own Flying Fish® Real Estate, a real estate development company based in Key Largo. When not scouting for property deals and selling real estate, Frederick can be found underwater looking for spiny lobster, lionfish, and stone crabs, towing the kids behind the boat on a tube, tinkering with his old diesel pickup, and volunteering as a mentor with Take Stock in Children® at Coral Shores High School. Frederick's three children have all attended TVM. One graduated, and is now attending Coral Shores High School, while the younger two remain enrolled at the school. Frederick serves on the TVM Board in the role of Chair of the Finance Committee, and he is active in the Facilities Committee. He encourages you to take part in your children's education at TVM, to volunteer at the school when you can, and to attend the Board Meetings.

Gabriela Sanchez

Mrs. Gabriela is starting as an ESE teacher here at TVM. Ms. Gabriela started off as an after school counselor, attending MDC with an AA in Early Childhood Development. She promptly graduated from Florida International University Psychology Department in Fall of 2020, but won't end there. Since then, she has driven herself to become an ESE teacher for exceptional students and has over 8 years of experience working with children. Ms. Gabriela has dedicated her life to spreading kindness everywhere and working hard to facilitate student success. It's the little things that help us through life, like a simple smile or an act of kindness. Be the change you want to see in the world.

Kate Hofstetter

Ms. Kate holds a Bachelor of Arts in English from Florida International University, a Master of Education in Montessori Integrative Educational Studies from Endicott College and The Institute of Educational Studies, and is widely trained in whole brain-body integration. She is enthralled with learning and daily ponders the essence of education and the neuropsychology which best serves students' academic, cognitive, and social growth. She has worked in both private and public Montessori settings and currently assists with Language Arts curriculum and believes in "paying it forward" for the love she has received throughout her two decade, Montessori, integrative learning journey. She continually explores and among her favorites are plants, bugs, marine life, photography, diving, poetry, reading, and writing. She spends as much time as possible inhaling her natural island environment and cherishes hanging out with her wonderful husband and family.

Kathie Borders

Ms. Kathie graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism and Mass Communication. She continued her graduate-level studies in New York City at the Center for Media Arts, Germain School of Photography. She earned her Master of Arts in Montessori Education from Sarasota University and is Montessori Certified in Elementary I and II. Ms. Kathie has her Florida Professional Educator's Certificate in Elementary Education for Grades K-6 with ESOL and Reading endorsements. She is a National Geographic Certified Educator, a Certified Apple Teacher, and a Certified Google Educator-Level 1. She joined TVM in 2016 and is the lead 4th/5th-grade teacher.

Kris Pooley

Ms. Kris worked in the banking, real estate industry and retail management before embarking on a career in education. Her family moved from Saint Augustine to beautiful Islamorada in 2009 and enrolled their children at TVM. She was an active parent volunteer until she joined TVM's staff in 2013 as administrative assistant. Ms. Kris ultimately found her calling when she began teaching in our VPK program later in that same year. She is Montessori certified and MACTE accredited, ages 3-6.

Maureen McDonough

Maureen McDonough brings to the TVM Board of Directors 31 years of experience as teacher, professor, and administrator in educational settings ranging through middle school, high school, undergraduate and graduate levels. She is a professor emerita at the Community College of Baltimore County where she worked for 21 years, retiring as Director of Teacher Education. During that time, she served in a variety of leadership positions in professional educational organizations, including the presidency of the Maryland Association of Teacher Educators (MATE). She holds a B.A. from Syracuse University, a M.Ed. from Boston University, and a Ph.D in Educational Policy and Leadership from the University of Maryland. She is married to a retired Army officer, with whom she raised three children while moving to various posts throughout the U.S. and Europe. During those years, Dr. McDonough served as room mother, PTO President, school newsletter editor, and t-ball coach. The McDonoughs have six grandchildren, two of whom attend TVM and are thriving in the challenging and supportive environment the school provides. Dr. McDonough currently serves as Chair of the TVM School Advisory Committee (SAC).

Michelle Bennett

Ms. Michelle holds a Bachelors in Elementary Education from Tusculum University in Eastern Tennessee, where she taught Preschool and Sixth grade English. An Ohio native, Ms. Michelle spent her holidays in the Keys and always considered Islamorada her second home. She has been an active resident of Islamorada since 2006, participating in "Take Stock in Children", PKS Cheerleading coach, BPW, Chamber, Rotary and an active Real Estate Agent. Michelle is also a family advocate for Rett Syndrome, and fundraising for research towards a cure. Ms. Michelle has 3 beautiful children in TVM and she is proud to be a Seadragon. Ms. Michelle, worked as a Paraprofessional/ co-teacher in the 22/23 school year is looking forward to furthering her education with Montessorri training while joining the TVM family as a lead teacher.

Rosemary Donnelly is a Reserve Portfolio Manager for Southern Wine and Spirits. Prior to working for Southern Wine she worked for the Florida Keys Restaurant Management group, as the General Manager for several restaurants in the Keys. Rosemary and her husband moved to Key Largo from Banff Alberta Canada in 1996, where they both were in the Hospitality Industry. Rosemary and her husband Buck, own a global spice company. They also produce a Key's cooking show, airing on local television. Rosemary was born and raised in Ontario Canada and is a graduate of Lakehead University, with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She is a certified sommelier and a certified Spirits Specialist. Both of her children were introduced to Montessori school programs at a very young age, and have found TVM to be a perfect fit to further their academics.
