ARIZONA DERMATOLOGY SPECIALISTS - Key Persons

Dr. Reese joined Arizona Dermatology Specialists in 2021. He is a board-certified Dermatologist who brings extensive clinical experience to our team Dr. Reese hails from the State of Delaware, received his Bachelor of Science degree at Cornell University, as well as a Master's in Education at the University of Delaware. Dr. Reese earned a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine through Western University of Health Sciences in 2005. He received his Dermatology residency training at Brooke Army Medical Center and Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. After becoming board certified in Dermatology in 2009, Dr. Reese served in the U.S. military as an Army Dermatologist. He was deployed to Iraq during Operation New Dawn and proudly served as the Dermatology Consultant to the Surgeon General of the Army in Iraq. His last Army duty station was at Madigan Army Medical Center in Fort Lewis, WA. He relocated to sunny Arizona in 2021. He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and a member of the Phoenix Dermatologic Society, as well as the Arizona Dermatologic and Dermatologic Surgery Society. Dr. Reese enjoys practicing both medical and surgical dermatology, seeing patients of all ages. He values finding and treating skin cancers, but he also enjoys solving "mystery rashes" of all kinds, as well as initiating and formulating a treatment plan for various common skin disorders, including acne, eczema, psoriasis, and growths on the skin. It is also helpful that Dr. Reese speaks Spanish in the clinical setting. Dr. Reese enjoys hiking, biking, and camping with his wife and twin children.

Arizona Dermatology Specialists, PLLC is founded by Dr. James Barlow, MD. He is one of a handful of board certified, Mohs fellowship trained dermatologic surgeons in the greater Phoenix Valley specializing in Mohs Micrographic Surgery, laser surgery, facial reconstruction, and cosmetic dermatologic surgery. Dr. Barlow has expertise in the surgical management of skin diseases, skin cancer, laser surgery, and advanced cosmetic techniques performed with local anesthesia. He has performed over 10,000 Mohs surgery procedures and an equal number of facial reconstructions since completing his fellowship training in 2005. Dr. Barlow grew up in Las Vegas, Nevada and attended the University of Arizona where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry. He received his medical degree at the University of Nevada School of Medicine where he was named to the Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. He completed his internship and dermatology residency at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Arizona where he served as chief resident in his final year. His fellowship training in Mohs micrographic surgery, facial reconstruction, and procedural dermatology was at the Medical University of South Carolina. He then went on to complete a second year of fellowship training in advanced facial cosmetic surgery at the California Skin Institute with Dr. Greg S. Morganroth in Mountain View, CA. Dr. Barlow is a Fellow of the American College of Mohs Surgery (ACMS), American Society of Dermatologic Surgery (ASDS), Phoenix Dermatology Society (PDS), and the American Academy of Dermatology (AAD). Dr. Barlow believes in a lifelong commitment to learning, research, and education and continues to publish and present cutting edge research and surgical techniques. He has authored multiple peer-reviewed articles on surgical reconstructive techniques, cutaneous oncology, and cosmetic techniques. In 2006 he was awarded the prestigious Tromovich Award for research on distinguishing melanoma from the normal melanocytes in chronically sun-damaged skin. In his free time Dr. Barlow enjoys spending time with his wife and two young sons, hiking the surrounding desert trails, watching science fiction movies, and winter sports. Dr. James Barlow is a Mayo Clinic trained, Board Certified dermatologist. He is a fellowship trained in MOHS surgery, facial reconstruction, and cosmetic surgery.

Dr. Jesse Olmedo joined Arizona Dermatology Specialists in June, 2014. Dr. Jesse Olmedo has been practicing general dermatology in the Valley for over 9 years and performs medical, surgical, and pediatric dermatology. Dr. Olmedo received his undergraduate training at Texas Tech University where he graduated summa cum laude. While in his undergraduate training Dr. Olmedo was one of the few chosen Howard Hughes Medical Institute scholars allowing him to conduct orthopedic research throughout his undergraduate career. After completing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Olmedo went on to pursue his medical degree at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center where he graduated the top of his class and was a member of the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. After medical school, Dr. Olmedo attended the prestigious Mayo Clinic Scottsdale for his internship and dermatology residency training. He was chief resident his last year of his residency and authored publications on optical coherence tomography which will hopefully allow us to further our understanding of skin cancers. Upon completion of his residency, Dr. Olmedo has been practicing dermatology as a board certified dermatologist in the West Valley for over 9 years. He is the current President elect of the Phoenix Dermatology Society. Dr. Olmedo's care philosophy has been a commitment to building long term patient relationships through prevention, early detection, and patient satisfaction. On his free time, Dr. Olmedo enjoys scuba diving, snow boarding, Ikebana Japanese floral design, cooking, and traveling.

Havilah Dodd (Hava) is a board-certified Physician's Assistant. She joined Arizona Dermatology Specialist in 2021. She has been native to Arizona for over 20 years now. She is originally from Colorado, where she obtained a Bachelor's of Science in Biochemistry. She later completed her Physician Assistant Masters Degree at Northern Arizona University. She has experience in dermatology, research and family practice. She has also trained in permanent make-up micropigmentation and lasers. Hava is a Associate of the Phoenix Dermatology Society, International Dermoscopy Society and Society of Dermatology Physician Assistants. Hava's passion is driven by the bonds she strives to build with every patient. She believes these bonds empower them to be a partner in understanding their dermatological needs. On her days off, she enjoys almost anything outdoors with her family. Her adventures vary from camping to fishing and snowboarding to kayaking. She has a soft spot for plants and animals and enjoys being surrounded with them which includes the 4 Great Danes she lovingly raises. She is very excited to be part of Arizona Dermatology Specialists and is proud to work with such a fantastic team of providers.
