Back Door Cellars, Whats in a name? We selected our name by popular vote amongst our members and employees. The name involved humor, intrigue, an open ended selection of possible proprietory blend names. The selection was made from multiple good offerings including many mentions of specific locations, much discussion was held about not wanting to tie us to a specific location. We are a group of individuals who purchase grapes from many locations, and we produce each wine specifally to express its best characteristics. We have a philosophy of not shoe horning ourselves into any one particular style. That being said...we do intend on keeping a thread of continuity with our selection of wines. It is our intention to always include wines from the Santa Cruz Mountains AVA, and from the West Side of Paso Robles. The term "negociants" aptly would describe our efforts.
