Amanda Woodward

Job Titles:
  • Dean, Division of the Social Sciences
Amanda Woodward joined the University of Chicago faculty in 1993 and served as Deputy Dean for Faculty Affairs in the Division from 2015-2017 and as Chair of the Department of Psychology from 2013-2015. Woodward has pioneered the development of experimental methods to investigate social cognition in infants and young children. Her research has yielded fundamental insights into infants' social understanding and the processes that support conceptual development early in life. Woodward is a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences, the Association for Psychological Science, and the American Psychological Association.

Christina Klespies

Daniel Duhon

Job Titles:
  • Budget and Programs Administrator
Daniel brings a wealth of administrative and opreational experience to the Masters Program in the Scocial Sciences. He is the Budget and Programs Administrator and brings over 15 years of related customer service skills and 5 years of administrative experience to the roll. Daniel is a recent graduate of California State University of San Bernardino with his Business Management & Administration degree. He most recently served as an Installation Coordinator where he scheduled installations, managed budget reports, and assisted with onboarding of new hires. He is excited to use his skillset and is dedicated to assisting with administrative needs and facilitating the day to day operations of our MAPSS, MACSS and CIR departments.

Dean Woodward was appointed Dean in April 2018. She joined the University of Chicago faculty in 1993 and served as Deputy Dean for Faculty Affairs in the Division from 2015-2017 and as Chair of the Department of Psychology from 2013-2015.

Jana Chiu

Jana is the Event Coordinator for the Masters Programs in the Social Sciences Division. She works closely with MAPSS, MACSS, and CIR to organize and execute a wide variety of program events. She is dedicated to developing wellness and social programming for students. Jana earned her BA in Chemistry at Vassar College. She most recently served as a Staffer for the IL 2nd District State Representative. She is passionate about building community on campus and working to support students throughout their time in the program.

Jasmin Johnson

Lauren Sheely

Job Titles:
  • Employer Relations Manager
Lauren works to cultivate and maintain relationships with government, corporate, and non-profit companies in the Social Science sector and connect these employers with students in the MAPSS, Committee on International Relations, and Computational Social Science programs. She also advises students in all three programs on all areas of career development. Lauren is a Chicago native with previous experience in donor relations and dramaturgy at several cultural institutions, including Court Theatre. She works extensively in the arts and culture sector, specifically at the intersection of dance and disability/chronic illness. Lauren holds a BA in Theatre and Dance from Grinnell College, and an MA in Humanities with a concentration in Theater and Performance Studies from University of Chicago's MAPH program.

Shelly L. Robinson

Shelly L. Robinson is the Senior Director of Career Services & Professional Development for the MAPSS, Committee on International Relations and Computational Social Science programs. She helps students with all areas of career development, including one-on-one advising, resume and cover letter preparation, interviewing, networking, and job search assistance. She has nearly 15 years in career development and higher education administration with past experience in human resources, recruitment, and operations management. She holds a PhD in Communication with interests in careers, multiculturalism, pedagogy and organizations from Purdue University.

Sparkle Dalphinis

Sparkle is the Director of Graduate Admissions and Enrollment for the Social Sciences Division at UChicago. She has years of experience working in undergraduate and graduate recruitment. Sparkle works closely with MA programs within SSD to support the recruitment and enrollment of students in the program. Sparkle earned her Master of Education in Cultural and Educational Policy from Loyola University Chicago and her Bachelor of Science in Business from DePaul University. She is passionate about helping students achieve their educational goals and assisting them through the graduate school search and application process.
