Coastal Charts & Maps was founded on the idea that boaters, from cruisers to kayakers, needed charts that were not big and clumsy or in books that either come apart or were hard to follow because they lacked the north - south orientation or you had to search for the next page because it is not in sequence and, in general, most paper charts are useless in a wet environment. After all, we are talking about boating. A format was selected based on many conversations with boaters of all types on what was needed, and a chart size of 11 x 17 double sided with great color was selected. Then, have it waterproofed and protected from the sun's rays with 10 mil of high grade UV lamination which can be written on and used over and over again. This chart size is easy to handle in all conditions eliminating the storage problems associated with rolled up large charts and clumsy chart kits.
